Crack in crib headboard

So my father bought us the crib for baby almost a month ago and after A LOT of nagging, my DH finally was going to start putting it together today.

First wrong color, even with the box saying natural finish, it's cherry. And now there's a crack in the headboard. Completely through the wood.

My dad is getting info together/ready to send it back, but my husband was seriously contemplating still using it!!! And putting it together!

Just to ease my mind, we should not use this right?!?

I wouldn't use it! Your Dad bought you a new crib and didn't pay for a broke one. Could have bought one of those a lot cheaper, more than likely. I would 100% return/exchange it.
