Predicting nursing bra size

Anyone have any tips for this? I'm in desperate need of a new bra as my old ones don't fit well anymore and the one I've been rocking is quite gross. I'm wondering if I should just get a nursing bra to try and kill two birds with one stone or if I should wait. And if I do wait-how do I predict size? I can't imagine wanting to go bra shopping right after baby arrives.

  • I mentioned in the recommend your nursing bra post that my mom (who is a certified lactation nurse) told me most pregnant women's breasts stop growing somewhere in the 24-28wk range. This was true for me last time. There is always exceptions to tue rule though so I am sure this could be untrue for some but if you are past 28wks you would most lukely be safe to at least buy one or two and still fit in them post baby.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm 27 weeks yesterday so maybe I should wait to buy until next weekend.
  • The best ones for nursing right away are the ones with no actual bra size. Also I hated underwire the last trimester and while nursing. I loved the target nursing sports bra and I had a decently large chest before getting pregnant (36d) and got an X-large and it was supportive but not restrictive...runs about 24 bucks! Alot of women like the bravado bras but i wanted to be able to try on before purchase...Good luck! I need new ones too! Wore that bra out after a year of nursing lol

  • I talked to a sales lady about this at a local cloth diaper boutique (they also sell nursing bras) and she said that she went from a b to a gg when breastfeeding! I'm gonna wait until baby gets here to buy mine.

  • Update: went to Nordstrom today and got one regular new bra and actually did end up getting this super awesome nursing bra (cake something) because it was so comfy and offered a lot more support than the sleep bra. I figure if it doesn't fit when baby comes it won't be the end of the world. Hell, Nordstrom would probably exchange it. They also said for $15 dollars they will turn your regular bra into a nursing bra and if you have a card there you get reimbursed. So all in all, I'm still going to wait and see but nice to have a couple that fit to hopefully get myself through. Thanks again, ladies!
