Moms of girls Q

Hellllo everybody!
Since we started PT, Cooper will randomly complain that her teetee hurts. It's not when she's peeing or even right after it's just randomly maybe once a day. Her "area" isn't red or swollen or even itchy. But occasionally it will have a subtle stench. I thought maybe we weren't wiping good enough so we adjusted that. We stopped using bubble bath stuff also
I'm wondering if I need to take her to the dr this week or if I need to have a talk with her teacher about how to wipe a child. Wwj12d?

  • Lilah had that yesterday. She was walking and then started screaming. we pulled her diaper off and inspected her and the diaper didn't find anything. not red or anything. im thinking maybe she pinched it

  • Never noticed that with my LO. We have only started ot think about potty training but made no real progress. I have noticed that LO loves to wipe (even though she has not gone in the potty). I guess she sees us wipe and wants to do it. The problem is she wipes like 10 times. Maybe wiping is irritating her?
Also could it be that it is the sensation that she has to go? Maybe she is confusing the sensation of having to go pee with hurting?
As for the smell I have never noticed that with LO. I would ask the doctor about it.
  • I don't think it's a confusion between peeking sensation and pain, she is very potty trained and has only had like two accidents since day 1 (that was first week in July)
I've read it's normal to experience this when potty training but due to lack of experience I don't know where the line between normal and abnormal lies.
Maybe I will give it another week, talk with her teacher, and if the problem still persists I will go to the dr. Thank y'all :)

  • Emma actually started doing this last week. Everything appeared normal to me so I assumed UTI. I took her to the pedi this week and was told she has vulvitis. It doesn't appear very red, but the dr said it looked irritated. She told her to put baking soda in her baths and apply A&D ointment liberally at every change/potty time. We've been doing that for a few days and she is complaining less now.

I hope Cooper feels better soon! It's so sad when they are uncomfortable and we can't fix it immediately.

I will try baking soda and a&d!! Thank you so much !! I hope that helps !! I'll update in a few days and tell ya if it helped !!

  • We had that problem with DD#1. I think a lot stemmed from not getting wiped well enough. I'd recommend the flushable wipes. I also started using the hand sprayer to rinse her off really well before she gets out of the tub. We haven't had a problem since.
