earache something fierce!

So I came down with a horrible earache this afternoon. And of course my ob office is closed. I went to CVS and asked the pharmacist what drops were safe to use and she said all of them are fine no worries. There was one box that said not for pg or nursing mothers, but I got hylands natural. It doesn't say don't use it if preg, but says as always nursing or preg mothers should contact their Dr before taking this med. I am in soooo much pain, does anyone at all know if its safe to use? Who was it that lives with the 'prenatal Nazi' I think is what I read lol. Any MDS that can help me out here? Gonna be a horribly long weekend ....:-(

    Do they have a Dr on call?  Or can you call your primary doctor?

    Tried calling my ob to see what was safe to take OTC since I can't seem to find anything online really. And I don't have a PCP. Thanks though

    I had a terrible earache a couple weeks ago when I was out of town. I called my doctor and she recommended I buy one of the ear bulb syringes and use a hydrogen peroxide/water solution in my ear. It got rid of a lot of the wax build up (gross I know) but I think since I'm so congested my ears were getting bad too.

    I did one treatment of the Hylands earache drops, took some of the pain away but not all of it. Then I heated up some salt in a sock to hold on my ear, for the pain and that supposedly draws some of the bacteria out as well if there is any. Then I warmed up some olive oil and put that in. Then took 2 Tylenol, lol. All of this within a few hours. I haven't had much pain since then, but it still feels a little irritated. I think I'll do the olive oil treatment again today and Tylenol if the pain comes back. That was some serious pain, I haven't had an earache as long as I can remember! I don't even remember them as a kid. I now have a whole lot more sympathy for kids screaming with earaches. I knew it must hurt, but now I know its killer. Thanks all and hope this is finished! :) Have a great weekend!

    I don't know how you would feel about this but when I was a kid and we had ear aches my grandpa would lightly blow cigarette smoke into our ear. It works really well and numbs the pain. I had an ear ache a month ago and had my dad do it for me, he made a little funnel out of a piece of paper so he didn't blow it in my face. It worked really well.
