Smooth move tea

I'm 6w5d and just read how Smooth Move tea can be harmful during pregnancy. I've only had about 2-3 cups over the past 2 weeks but I'm worried now that I've done something to hurt the baby. I don't go in for my first ultrasound for anther couple of days, Help!

Re: Smooth move tea

  • Oh no! I've had a laxative tea too. I also don't go in for my first ultrasound until Monday. But I, like so many others, am recalling each and every wrong that may have occurred along the way and think CATASTROPHE! Everything is likely okay.

  • Thanks I really hope so! I have this huge fear that I'll go in on Tuesday and something will have gone wrong. Most of the sites say that in moderation it shouldn't have any serious effect on the health of the baby/pregnancy but there's still that fear in the back of my mind until I hear the heartbeat.

  • It causes smooth muscle contractions and your uterus is a smooth muscle, so it really should be avoided completely. Constipation is a bitch, but try other solutions. Increase your water and fiber intake, go for a walk or exercise to get things moving...but definitely stop with the laxative tea.

    Really good advice.

  • I've had smooth move tea as well. Not anymore I guess!!
Another trick I do is I like to add psyllium husk to my smoothies in the morning. It really helps with constipation. Just make sure you increase your water intake when you do take it.
