thrush??!?! teething?!

So I posted this on my fb asking if toots could possibly be teething because she has been very mouthy lately. Spits out her paci and aggressively tries to get both hands in her mouth. Always rubbing her mouth roughly and being very fussy (what's new?). I found a white hard spot on the out side of her gums. Then they pointed out how her tongue is white and said it looked like she had thrush. But her tongue has been white like that since she was born... I thought it would go away eventually. It has faded but of course it's still a little white. I would think the pedi would notice it and say something? What do you mom's this is going on? Now I don't know what to think...

    I thought my LO had thrush too but I thought they get it on their cheeks and stuff too. She's always had a white tongue too so I will be checking what others say.

    Yeah I don't think it's thrush. Stupid people on fb scaring me! I should have known better!

    She has always had a white tongue and she has nothing around her mouth ANYWHERE. I think I would know by now if she did. But I will remain to keep an eye on it!

    Agree it's not thrush. The gum does kinda look like a tooth coming in though...hard to tell from the pic for sure.

    @jenna3878- She had it really bad in the beginning and it faded as well. It's not nearly as bad as it was

    @smdukes- If you push on your gums you can feel your tooth through them. That's what this feels like. Just one hard spot on her gums.

    That's not thrush IMO. We've had it and it's more on the cheeks. Their tongues are white from milk. I think her gums look like early teething but it's hard to tell.

    The pic does not look like thrush from what I can tell. How is she eating? If she doesn't have a problem you can probably eliminate the thrush theory.
    A few thoughts to hopefully help you vs confuse you :)
    What paci are you using? We switched from the soothie to the mam and the nuk and it has changed our world - no more spitting out the paci, it just fits in her mouth better and is harder to spit out.
    Also, salivary glands are developing at this age so baby can be very slobbery right now (people will love telling you it's LO teething but most likely not)
    Baby is learning hands exist and LOVE eating their hands right now as well as using their hands to put anything and everything in their mouth. Totally normal at this age.
    Sleep regression and/or increased fussiness can mean she's ready to eat more.
    I am certainly not an expert but we went thru something similar to this in the past few weeks and after addressing the above seem to be in a better spot.

    We use the nuk! To be honest, I was reading the Wonder Weeks and she has all the red flags of just going through another leap and milestone. I noticed the kiddies in her Gymboree class that are a tiny bit older than her were doing this when we first joined. Slobbering, hands in the mouth ect. Plus the book has been spot on too. I gave her Tylenol just in case, but I think it's just another stage.

    That looks like how DS's tongue was and he did have thrush. If it doesn't wipe off easily, then you might want to see your pedi. DS is currently teething, but his gums don't look like that.
