This is why I hate my boss

I posted before that since I came back from ML, my boss insisted that I must be here for "core business hours" of 9-5, with availability to stay later if anything comes up. Just because things may come up and he wants someone here if they do. I am an accountant, by the way, not saving lives, or doing anything else where there is generally a crisis that must be dealt with immediately. But anyway, I could not accomodate that schedule so as of the end of October I am out of a job.

Meanwhile, he rolls in between 9 - 9:30, BS's about sports or whatever for an hour or so, disappears for no less than 2 - 3 hours every day, and when he wants to skate early he just leaves his office light and computer on so it looks like he is still here. Annoys the crap out of me but there is not a damn thing I can do about it.

@ClaryPax - Yes, that is it. It just bugs me because it is such a double standard. And if he were actually here and productive for the majority of the day, he would not have so many crises at the end of the day when he finally decides to start working. He does this all of the time.

So when you "thought you quit" you were able to at least stay thorough October to get something else by then?

Thanks everyone for allowing me to complain here. It just makes me so mad that I am losing my job over this but he's not exactly killing himself or even making sure he is available during "core business hours". And yes they did give me some time to find something else, so that is helpful.

That freaking blows. I get so pissed because DH gets 10 paid days off a year (sick, vacation, whatever). I keep track, and his boss has taken over 25 days off for the year already as of 7/31. He's the boss. I get it, he can do what he wants, but it pisses me off that he gives DH grief if he has to take a day off because one of the kids is sick and can't go to daycare, even though he's just using one of his 10 paid days off, but meanwhile, he takes like no joke, 10 vacations a year.

Thanks @sandrabrooke - I have felt stuck here, because I had a flexible schedule and that is hard to find, but I have not been happy for a while. I am looking for something else now and hoping I can find something better soon.

OP, I'm sorry for your situation. Hope you find something better that allows for a schedule that works better for you. Leaders should lead by example.
