breast feeding pump and insurance/ recommendation for a pediatrician in NYC who is ok with alternati

Hello everyone.
I read it some time ago from this website that some insurances do cover for breast pump. Has anyone actually experienced this or knows someone who did?  How does one go by having the insurance cover for the pump? Also, I am considering vaccinating my child, but would  like to know if anyone knows of any pediatrician in the NYC  area that is good and is also ok with alternative scheduling? thanks for your help.

  • I am all up for vaccines but I am going to space them out and not give Hep B at birth (like they do in Switzerland for example). I have asked my pediatrician if he's ok with it and he said yes as long as all family had a valid TDaP immunization (and we do). Simply call around and ask.

I had my DD1 in Switzerland and she had all her vaccines according to the common schedule and I can assure you there is nothing wrong with her and neither with any on the kids of all my friends who had babies there... No
need to panic... I actually wish I could go back and have this baby over there too... The healthcare system, levels of attention to patient and attitudes of medical professionals as well as of the patients themselvea are SO MUCH BETTER there...
  • I had two of my children in Switzerland and i didnt say there is anything wrong with this health system. According to Swiss schedule there is no Hep B at birth, not until babies are 1 month old (unless mom is a carrier). I actually loved my doctors but can see some flaws of some procedures also...

I didn't say it does - please read my post again. Hep B has nothing in common with TDap. I am not Hep B carrier so we will give this vaccine later on. My doctor has nothing against it. Tdap is completely different subject and there is no Tdap vaccine for brand new babies. First Tdap shot is scheduled at 1-2 months so it is very important that mother takes a TDap booster around 35 weeks pregnant and also that family is immunized.
Again, I am all up for vaccines and won't let unvaccinated children anywhere around my baby but I also have right to give vaccines according to my own schedule. Look at vaccine schedule - there is always a time frame and not exact point in time to get a vaccination. So if they say give 6 vaccines at 1-2 months, I will give some at 1 and some at 2 months old.
