TTC After a Loss

AW: The Plan. And Some Whining

edited August 2014 in TTC After a Loss
Just got back from my pre-op appointment with my RE for my operative hysteroscopy on Monday. We have a plan going forward, which I'm happy about. But I'm also frustrated and just sort of need to vent.

So my surgery is scheduled for Monday to remove the retained tissue in my ute, which is leftover from my May 1 D&C. The good news is that my doc didn't see any adhesions. The scary news is that he said there's always a chance they aren't able to get everything out, in which case I'd have to have another, more intense surgery. I'm not even gonna let myself go there. Just thinking positive thoughts that this will be it and we can move on. In which case...

*THE PLAN*
After surgery, I have to have a balloon catheter stuck up in my ute for 5 days. Yeah, THAT sounds like fun... I also will be taking Premarin (estrogen) for 25 days. For the last 10 of those days, I also have to take progesterone. The goal of this is to rebuild my lining and make my ute a nice, comfy place for a future pregnancy, hopefully. Then I have to wait one cycle for a normal AF to arrive, then we will do a medicated IUI cycle. When I count this out on the calendar, it seems like we're looking at IUI sometime in mid-October.

So... I'm happy to have a plan. But frustrated about the surgery and more waiting. I also got kinda freaked out when my RE handed me an RX for 12 percocet for afterward. After my D&C, all I needed was Advil. I was like... is the pain really going to be that bad??? I took off work through Wednesday, but I was really hoping I'd be feeling better quickly.

Anyway, thanks for listening to my whiny AW post. Since it's Friday and past noon where I live, enjoy a cocktail:

Re: AW: The Plan. And Some Whining

  • I'm glad you have a plan. I've got my FX that everything will go well on Monday. Just keep thinking positively. On the meds front, I've only taken ibprophen after my D&Cs but I've never had retained tissue so I'm not sure if they will be doing something different? GL!

(((hugs)))  I am sorry that you have to do all of this stuff.

I am paging @KMW08 if you are okay with having a graduate chime in.  She went through the whole balloon catheter thing after her resection, so she may have some tips/advice for you.
This. I've been on a self-imposed Bump break lately, but I had to break in here to encourage you to talk to @KMW08. She coined the term "Ballooterus" for our board during her procedure. And later, after all was said and done, "Beauterus." I'm sure she could provide helpful insights.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday and sending all kinds of good vibes your way, Bookish.

Yes, I'm open to KMW popping in. My siggy says all AL and IF welcome.

My RE did say during the u/s today that everything else looks great, minus the endometrioma on my right ovary, which he thinks is NBD in terms of our plan. So I'm encouraged that I, too, can have a "Beauterus" in due time!

  • I am so happy to hear that you have what sounds like a very well thought out plan in place and that your doctor seems to be taking great care of you.  I am so sorry you are benched that long, but if in the end you have a perfect BEAUTERUS then it's worth it!!!  FX for a Halloween rainbow baby!!

It sounds like your plan is different from mine to remove retained tissue. I had a D&C with Hysteroscopy but I did need a balloon. Is your doctor planning to send the removed tissue out for testing?

  • ****sig warning****

The balloon cath isn't near as scary as it seems--I promise!! I was really worried because mine was in place for 15days (5 days will be a walk in the park!) AND I was given 96 tablets of Demerol. CUE HUGE FREAKOUT. I now think that many pain pills was a mistake or something to do with insurance? As I only used about 20.

The balloon itself is just there. It's weird to explain, it wasn't super annoying but I knew it was there. I did a blog post about it here: (I've not updated my blog, so there's no pg talk there if anybody else views).

    https://kmw08itsmylife.blogspot.com/2013/09/post-surgery-experience.html?m=1

I never had any real pain with mine. By the 15th day it was starting to get uncomfy, I think that was more of my pelvic muscles being used though. At times-closer to the end, I also felt like it was in there funny, so I would do some pelvic thrusting maneuvers to try and wiggle it to a differ spot LOL!

Also a heads up, all that estrogen will have your cm off the charts!

@mlal78‌ thanks for paging me love! :-*
