Bay Area Peeps - cost of daycare?

I'm paying about 1,200/mo in the Sacramento area for full-time daycare (at a school facility (Merryhill School), not in-home).  What is the cost for equivalent care in the Bay Area?

  • I'm thinking East Bay (Berkeley/Walnut Creek/Danville) more than SF city or South Bay.

  • @chilibeansm0m - well, DH had a good second interview for a job in SF so we are looking at moving (fingers crossed).  I'd keep my job in Sacramento, so we are thinking that Walnut Creek area would be a good midway commute wise, plus the schools are good, etc.

From a bit of research it looks like preschools aren't too much more expensive than Sacramento area (range from $1,000 to $1,500), but in-home daycare and nannies seem more expensive than Sacramento?  Maybe that's why your quote was so high?

  • @spain717 - I know.  I was fantasizing about living in the Sedona/Flagstaff area and the montessori schools out there were like $500 per month.  California is ridiculous.

  • @DCKate - We live in Hudson, right across from St. Paul, MN.

*We must be far away from eachother because I have never heard of either of those places* :)

    Kick ass state though, ;)
