Clomid Question

Hi everyone, for those of you using Clomid, on what cycle day do you typically ovulate? Whether or not I use Clomid, I have always ovulated on my own, but the RE suggested I try a few cycles of 50mg. Regardless of Clomid, I have usually ovulated later, around CD 19-23. The RE did not see an issue with that, since my cycles are a little longer, anywhere from 30-35 days, and my period typically starts 2 weeks after I get a positive ovulation result. I had a yearly checkup with my GYN today, and she asked how things were going. I explained everything, and she thinks it's unusual that I ovulate that late in my cycle since I am using Clomid. The RE seemed to think it was totally fine, so my instinct is to trust her since she is the specialist. Right? Because now I'm wondering!

In my two cycles so far I have gotten a positive LH surge on day 13 and day 14.

Thanks, and without Clomid did you still ovulate around the same time?

I don't think it matters when you O as long as you have the proper LP length after to support a pregnancy and at 2 weeks you do.

FWIW I have not taken clomid, but take letrozole and I O a little earlier than usual on that.

Clomid always made me O a little later. I typically O around day 13-15 on my own, Clomid makes me O between day 18-20.

I've read that Clomid can make you O a little later than usual (possibly). I O on my own without Clomid around day 20 or 21...this is my first month on Clomid (monitored, of course) but I am taking the Ovidrel shot to O (just got the trigger yesterday on CD 15, so I should O today or tomorrow), I believe just so they have a better idea of timing. My RE thinks I have a slight luteal phase defect (mine have been usually 9-10 days with lots of spotting beforehand since my CP in March) and a slight ovulation defect (or weak ovulation).

Like PP stated, I think the main concern is whether your luteal phase is long enough. Two weeks is ideal, so you seem to be good there. GL!

I don't ovulate on my own, so I don't really have a comparison. But I have been taking Clomid for eight cycles now (have moved to an RE and proceeding with Clomid and IUI) and I ovulate around day 18-20. That is with taking the Clomid days 5-9 of my cycle. My RE is now having me take the Clomid days 3-7, so we'll see if that moves ovulation up a few days. The RE said ovulation should be about 7 days after the last dose of Clomid.

hmm, thats interesting. my ovulation was never about 7 days after the last dose of clomid, and my RE never said anything about that not being typical. I have taken it both on days 3-7 and also days 5-9 on a different cycle. no matter when I took it, and no matter if i took clomid or not, i have ovulated around day 19-23. i will have to bring this up next time i go.
