Frank breech, external version, and VBAC

Ok, I just had my 36th week appt today and my little boy is frank breech. My doctor is going to attempt a external cephalic version next week. I wanted to know if any of you lovely ladies have had this done successfully in the past AND if any of you ladies have had a successful VBAC in the past (just wanted to know incase this pregnancy will end up as a c cession-which I really do not want!)

Thanks!!

Re: Frank breech, external version, and VBAC

  • My baby is currently breech ( well she was lat visit). I am seeing a chiro who specializes in the Webster method but I won't do the external version. I had a fairly easy vaginal birth and would like another but the risk of distress to baby , emergency c section and other complications via external version has made me Decide against. I firmly believe w the help of the chiro if it is safe for her to turn she will on her own. Good luck!

  • See a Webster certified chiro. They are amazing and can often get babies to turn. Also do some of the exercises on spinningbabies.com

  • I was also going to say spinning babies-- forward leaning inversion. My baby isn't breech but I still do inversions because my doula recommends them to keep baby in good position. I am having a VBA2C.

  • I just found out my baby is breech earlier this week.  I have started going to a chiro certified in the Webster technique.  I just researched spinning babies and will try the forward leaning inversion.  I won't be doing an EVC.  My first 2 kids were both born vaginally (neither were ever breech though) and I'd really like to have a 3rd vaginal birth.

  • There's a birth story on a natural frank breech on pg 17(I think) of the birth story board. Hope your LO turns though!

Hi, was just wondering how you got on? Did you manage to have baby flip? I am in a similar situation to yourself. Told at 36 weeks baby is frank breech. Have been trying all sorts to try and move her but beginning to think that Frank Breech babies just are unable to manoeuvre at this point. Also have low amniotic fluid levels 6.1 so have drinking like crazy in the hope that at my next scan in couple of days it may have increased. Don't think they will attemp a ECV unless my levels are above 10. But unsure!!
  • @Gemmc2005‌ ,The baby ended up flipping on his own so no need for Ecv but I think he keeps flipping back and fourth because i have a lot if movement. I am 37+3 today and at this point I just need to go into labor and see whether he is ok for vag delivery or if it will be a c/s. Hope yours flips and stays put!!
  • Congrats, that's really great news. So he managed to get himself out of the frank breech position? I'm really praying that my baby can do the same but I'm not hopeful as the Dr told me I had low fluid (6.1) and baby would probably struggle to move. It's so great hearing success stories like yours though because it gives me a little more to hang on to. I struggle to find many people who have managed to have their Frank breech babies turn beyond 37 weeks. Lots of people have had complete breech babies turn at this point, probably because they have their legs down and so seem to find it a little easier to turn, but I keep thinking of my little one all squashed with her legs up by her head and it really gets me down.
  • I was sad about possibly having a c/s especially since I'm a FTM, but in the end it's about a safe delivery and there is always a possible VBAC later on. I also think with frank breech it is easier to turn because there feet/legs are already where they need to be, they just need to turn thier little torso and head down. Good luck!!
