zoloft concerns

Hey ladies, I recently made the decision to seek help for my post partum anxiety. I have a history of anxiety, so it's no surprise to me that it's gotten me again. I've never taken Zoloft. My Dr prescribed 50mg daily. I have taken Prozac in the past and it caused me to feel cloudy all the time and gain quite a nit of weight. Anyone gain weight or feel like crap on Zoloft?? Would love some feedback : )

Re: zoloft concerns

  • I take 50 mg as well for pp anxiety and I think it actually has caused me to lose weight. I felt a little cloudy at first but I've been taking it for about 7 weeks and now I feel great. It has made a huge difference. Aside from lowered libido (which could also be from bf), the only other side effect is upset stomach if I don't eat when I take it. Hope it works as well for you!

  • @Mmk724‌ do you stress eat and it helped you curb that or have your eating and exercise habits been the same?? When I was on Prozac, I was still eating well and working out and I just ballooned. So scared of that happening again :(
  • I actually eat less when stressed. It might not even be the zoloft. It could just be from breastfeeding. I'm actually 13 pounds under where I was pre-pregnancy. I'd like to put some weight back on and I'm sure that will happen when I'm done breastfeeding. Regardless of gain or loss, my anxiety was so bad that I didn't care as long as I got it under control.
  • @Mmk724‌ I'm having anxiety about my anxiety meds. Its like a cruel joke. I also eat less when stressed. I have lost all my baby weight plus about 10lbs. I'd like it to stay this way! Thank you so much for you input!! :)
  • No problem!! I felt the same way so I almost didn't take them. So glad I did! Good luck!
  • I switched from Prozac pre TTC to 75mgs Zoloft at 32 weeks pregnant.

    I lost weight with both.

    My sex drive is nonexistent

I haven't had stomach issues. I feel like Prozac worked better though.
  • Did anyone use these meds with a previous pregnancy? And knows how it went? I m on depression med too and the doctor wants me to stay on and I am on. I get very bad depression and anxiety even now I feel very down. But I think one reason for feeling down is feeling bad about taking meds.
  • I've been taking Zoloft since 6 weeks PP. I haven't had any side effects and its been working great. I'm taking 50 mg daily.

  • I was on Paxil and switched to Zoloft when we started trying to conceive. I've been on 50mg ever since without issue. Doctor said it was the safest option for pregnant/nursing women and I knew it would be healthier for me and DS to be on it than have serious anxiety issues!

Don't feel bad about taking meds. Babies need healthy moms. Some of us need medicine to be healthy emotionally and that's ok. For me I feel the risks of meds are worth my daughter having a mother who can get up in the morning and be there for her

  • Also lost weight. I feel a little foggy right after taking it. I've had much more vivid dreams and night sweats. Nothing unbearable.
  • Thank you for all of your input so far. I am feeling better about starting them. I just want to feel better for my husband, my daughter, and myself. Tired of feeling like a crappy, sad version of me. Hopefully, my weight won't fluctuate and ny head won't feel like it's wrapped in cotton in the process!
  • Zoloft was terrible for me. It actually gave me more anxiety and I couldn't eat at all on it. I'm on 5 mg of lexapro.. I love lexapro!

  • I was just bumped up to 100mg of Zoloft per day. I started it at the beginning of June and took 50mg until this week when the doc suggested that perhaps I could try to take a higher dosage if I needed to (all along I noticed that it helped but also felt that I needed more...I've never been on this or other drugs like this before but I just somehow knew).

I think at the first week of taking it I felt a little hazy and my jaw felt funny but I haven't had other side effects...except the positive ones.
