I started to WFH 2x a week after a mild pre-e diagnosis at 32w. My job is stressful and deadline-driven but I sit at a desk all day. The hardest part was/is my 45min commute in city traffic each way.

My water broke at work at 34w.

@jkayb123. I'm a PT as well (outpatient). How far along are you. I'm hoping to work as long as I can. I'm only 17 wks currently. What setting are you in
TTC 2 years- Me and DH (28) with (severely) low sperm count- less than 40 total (last 2 SA showed only 5 and 6 sperm each)
    IVF #1: ER 1/23/13- 4 eggs retrieved, 3 eggs fertilized; ET with 1 embryo 1/28/13 2 frosties beta #1 2/5 was 4.8- beta #2 2/7 3.5; BFN
FET #1- transferred one beautiful 4AA embie. Praying this is my take home baby. Beta 5/7/13- BFFN!!!
    IVF #2: ER 7/17/13: 6R/3F- transferred 1 blast and 1 10 cell embryo 5dt.   Beta hell.  #1 2.5, #2 2.2- BFFFN! REALLY?
IVF #3: ER 12/1 and only 2 retrieved.  1 fertilized with ICSI.  Was planning on transferring one fresh and one frozen....fresh was only 14 cells at day 5...CANCELLED and devastated due to 5cm blood filled cyst in ovary and blood in uterus.
IVF #4: Antagonist protocol with endometrial scratch day one of stims.  ER 4/21: 6R/4M/3F- transferred 2 beautiful blasts (5dt) and one was hatching!  No frosties but hoping we won't need it!  Beta 5/4/14- 444(8dp5dt), Beta #2 10dp5dt 1002!  THIS HAS GOT TO BE IT!!!!!!!!!!  First US 5/15 we saw two of the most beautiful gestational and yolk sacs I have ever seen!
    ****FINALLY PREGNANT WITH DI/DI TWINS!!!!!!!

BRINLEY AND RILEY LONG.  Born November 20, 2014 at 32 wks 3 days.  4lbs7oz and 4lbs5oz.  1 month NICU time for "B's" and growing and feeding.  Now healthy, thriving, beautiful little girls!

The pre-e dx came along w a weekend stint in the hospital where every dr I saw had a different idea about what I should be doing - everything from strict bed rest to zero restrictions.

I was over my commute at that point but wanted to save all of my leave for after the babies were here, so I suggested the WFH option at my follow up appt w my actual OB when I was released.

She obliged and wrote me a note. Be aware though that you've gotta do what the note says. I wanted the flexibility to WFH when I felt like it and bc the note said 2x a week, it had to be 2x a week even if I could've come in more than that.

  • @rlk2‌ yes, I Blame everything on that! I do home health, it really just started getting harder in the last 2 weeks, getting in and out of the car, in and out houses, dealing with different home situations, ugh it's all wearing on me. (Sorry about all that whining!)

  • I worked up to 34.5 weeks. I am a Neurosurgey nurse practitioner and am on my feet all day long. However I wasn't going to stop working until my doctor wrote me out. I wanted to save my ETO for when my girls were born. I had a relatively easy pregnancy and no issues with my BP so there was no medical reason for me to stop working. I was miserable those last few weeks though.

I had my girls at 36.3 weeks via a scheduled c-section.

    Ella - 10/19/10
    Julia and Aubrey - 4/3/14

  • I quit at 33 weeks, bedrest for two weeks and delivered at 35.

Age: 35 TTC since 2005, MFI & DOR

IVF #1 Sep '11 - canceled poor response

     IVF #2 Nov '11  8R/8M/4F 3dt x2 - chemical

    IVF #3 April '12  11R/6M/4F 3dt x2 - m/c

    FET #1 Aug 2012  3dt x2 - BFN

    **new RE**

     IVF #4 Jan '13 BFN 11R/6M/6F 5dt x2 - BFN

     IVF #5 July '13 16R/10M/10F 5dt x2 + 1 frostie

    9dp5dt Beta 1 = 344!! 16dp5dt. Beta 2 = 4822 7wk u/s= 2 heartbeats!

    Twin girls! 3/6/14

  • I worked until 35w 3d and my water broke that night. I'm a principal so on my feet a lot and no option to WFH. I was tired and sat and put my feet up when I could but it was doable for me.
  • I had not thought of needing to take time off prior to delivery. I will probably try and work as long as I can. I'll have to see how that works out. I work in a research facility and it is usually really slow in the Fall due to contract negotiations.
  • I'm a dental hygienist and I've developed carpal tunnel so I'm feeling like a liability as well with numb hands!  I'm 26 weeks now and planning on working just through the end of August when I'll be 30 weeks.  I'd like to try to keep these babies in until 38 weeks so I'm going to try to take it easy and not push it due to work.  I'm not going to be returning to work so saving my time for after they arrive isn't a concern for me, I know not many people have that option though.
  • I worked up until the day before I was induced (36 weeks).  I have an office job that allowed me light duty.  When I got the news they would induce me the next day, I went into work for the morning and tied up some loose ends, then took that afternoon off to "nap."  But I was far too excited to fall asleep; I ended up cleaning the house :)

Because I have a good short term disability leave and maternity leave policy, I'm not concerned about saving time off for after the babies come, or not having an income for any period of time. I think that is what is swaying my decision for me, and I'm planning to be off at around 28-30 weeks. If I was concerned about how much time off I had or income I could probably push myself longer, although my OB wants to see me off sooner than later. I'm seriously impressed with you ladies going longer, and on your feet.

  • I'm 34 weeks and still on the job.  I have a corporate job, so I mostly sit at a desk.  It's still tough, but I'm trying to stick it out until the bitter end so I have more time with the babies.

  • I am 32 weeks today. I had the summer off as I work at a school (by off I mean tat teachers weren't there and I came and went as I pleased b/c my principal was very understanding). However, have had some BP issues in the last two weeks and my OB let me know that it was only a matter of time before I went on bedrest. I am trying to push it as far as I can and still be healthy for both myself and the girls. Just don't have a lot of time saved up

I never had any problems with my pregnancy besides a lot of swelling and my doc didn't see any reason why I had to slow down ( I have a desk job) ...so I literally work up to the DAY I delivered them at 34w 5d.

  • In CA you get paid leave starting at 36 weeks and it's separate from mat leave so I worked until 36 weeks. I could have gone longer. That being said, I have a desk job, get to work from home a lot, make my own schedule and had a complication free pregnancy.

  • I am 29w5d and I would love to stop working but FMLA is only 12 weeks, regardless when you start it so I am working up until the last possible date to spend more time with babies.  I wish we had the freedom to work from home with my job but that is not a possibility.  I know other states have different laws that help working mothers.  Hopefully you work in one of them.
  • I was pulled from work at 28 weeks because my cervix shortened and I had a positive Ffn test.  I would have worked up to the end if it wasn't for that though because I felt great and had no complications!

D & L are here at 34 weeks 4 days by vaginal and breech delivery on 11/19/2013
Two healthy boys weighing 4 lbs 15 ozs and 4 lbs 5 ozs.  Only 6 days in the NICU and getting bigger, stronger and cuter every day!
