Hip pain when pregnant... help me!

Suddenly my right hip is killing me. Yesterday it started to achy but today it feels like it is cracking un half. :( It hurts to sit, it hurts to stand. Wahhh.... Heres the thing, I work a six hour shift tonight standing. Is there anything I can do to help? I am going take some tylenol. But anything else?

Re: Hip pain when pregnant... help me!

  • Heat? I had some sciatic pain early in my pregnancy and heat really helped alleviate the pain.

  • I had horrible PSD with DD when I was pregnant.  All they told me to do was keep on schedule with tylenol and then alternate with heat/ice packs.  I did see a physical therapist  that helped me a little bit.

aren't you just barely pregnant? I was always told to avoid medication before week 12 unless it was totally unavoidable. what about one of those salon pas heat patches? or you could always ask the dude you want to cheat on your husband with for a massage

she's having twins though. I'm sure it puts way more pressure on your joints even early on.

well my point was more that  Ihave heard you shouldn't take pain meds before 12 weeks, but at 10 weeks isn't that, like 2 tadpoles instead of 1?

    eta: sorry, 2 limes

    But twins, yo!

Wtf is your problem? Did I say the pain was FROM being pregnant? No. I mentioned that i was pg because I can't take stronger meds and needed some med free advice. Tylenol is completely safe while pregnant.
And seriously.... Not that it matters to bring it up again but i posted a long time ago that the crush was over. I was never going to cheat on my husband. Good grief.

  • I don't think you have to be HUGE pregnant to have discomforts in your bones.  My pubic bone pain began at 6 months pregnant and continued even after I gave birth and lost all the weight.  I know some people feel weird about chiros, but I highly recommend one.  She got rid of my pain pretty fast. Of course I guess you may need to wait until you are out of 1st trimester maybe.

  • This is going to be the longest fucking pregnancy ever...for all of us.
  • I second a chiro visit. I seem to remember having hip pain pretty early too.

I would also look into essential oils. I know there are some for joint pain. Surely there's one that's safe for pregnancy.

  • thermacare heating pads are super nice- you can stick them to your clothes and let it sit where you are having pain- I used to use them for cramps in high school!

    and stretches!
  • My chiro said.you aren't supposed to use ice or heat... I can't remember which. Lol, sorry I know that's not helpful at all. I think I was supposed to avoid heat and use ice packs.

Yes, use heat not ice. I only know this cause my chiropractor used ice.

    - Stuck in a box -

I never remember which either, so I end up just taking some tylenol and whining.

  • Are you sleeping on your side? that's when my hips started to hurt....I got a pregnancy pillow and the pain is about 99% gone. Also prenatal yoga helped with stretching/flexibility. Good luck!
