Is your FB blowing up with crazy over Ebola?

A friend posted that she's calling her union because she learned that she could contract Ebola from sweat. And she works outside with the public. Where people sweat!!!!!1111eleven!!!!

    It's not airborne so it's way less scary than say, SARS. She said we should have left the two Americans with Ebola in Africa

    No.  It isn't.  As an interesting story, my husband works in Pharma- so he has many dealings with the FDA.  One of the FDA workers that he has many dealings with, shared that he use to work for the CDC and was a field worker.  So he was sent into some not so great locations, with deadly outbreaks, and doing less than glamorous jobs.  He actually contracted Marburg virus (another hemorrhagic virus) - and fortunately survived.

    My husband's cousin and her husband both freaked out about this. DH said he thought it was transmitted through bodily fluids and cousin said, "Yeah, like a sneeze." Then her DH chimed in and said something about illegal immigrants are probably bringing it with them right now. DH just laughed at them. They are over the top about germs and paranoid about anything that isn't Conservative enough so I wasn't surprised.

    Ug. Yes. I live in Atlanta, so right by the cdc and everyone is up in arms about it. The most tin foil hat theory I've seen (courtesy of my step grandmother) is that Bin Laden started it. I just... I can't.

    I'm in Atlanta, too and my mom works at Emory. Everyone is making it sound like we're all going to catch it just by driving through downtown.

    I mean... I just... I actually thinks that because every American wasn't granted with a lock of his hair, she doesn't really beleive that he's dead. So, that's a thing people think. Like, for real.

    No one on my feed is freaking out. A few people have passed on actual factual info, but that's cool. A friend from undergrad works for the CDC and has passed on some really good info, especially the fact that it's really quite hard to catch provided you follow proper sanitation protocol.
