We got our staff resource guide this week for the new teaching year, and there is a separate description for men vs. women. It's not good.
Men: Males should wear collared shirts at all times. Pants should be clean and free of rips. Blue jeans may be worn only on Friday and must not contain rips or holes.
Women: Modesty of apparel should be maintained. The best guideline for dress is what should be tolerated of the students. Avoid clothing that would be distracting to the learning environment. Sleeves are required on all blouses and/or dresses per district policy. Blue jeans may be worn only on Friday and must not contain rips or holes.
I want to suggest an edit to our assistant principal who is in charge of putting this together, but I want to be professional in how I present it to him. Can you help me with suggested wording and how to bring it to his attention?
Re: Help me suggest better wording for our "Dress Code Policy" at work
Can't they just be specific with what is not ok, without being all slut shame-y about it? I'll post my company one:
Employees will continue to have the option of wearing business casual attire. This attire includes slacks and collared shirts for men, and mixed separates for women. As always, employees should not wear sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, tank tops, denim (jeans), sneakers and flip flops. And, employees are expected to dress more formally in work situations under certain circumstances, including when meeting with agents, customers, and members of the public.
I can't get the ticker to work, but I have two sons:

That's all that came to mind.
