Re: Facebook group?

  • Too soon sweetie.  Maybe in about 9 months.

  • Umm...you've posted one comment on the bump in four years, how do you know that a FB group is going to be "really helpful" to a bunch of women you don't know on a message board you don't frequent. Thanks, but I'll keep my butt right here on the bump.

  • Wow you ladies are definitely not the type I want to discuss my pregnancy with. I was just starting a support group with a friend. No need to be so rude about it.
  • I haven't posted on here because I found a group with my last pregnancy and it was extremely helpful for me.
  • Wow. You guys are awful! So much for this forum being a place for support.

So are you here only to solicit friends for your new group?? You do understand that this is already a group where women can come to discuss their pregnancies...why wouldn't you just join this group that already exists?

  • She walked right into that one -_- *facepalm*
  • I'm all for a FB group...in 6 months (at least).  And even once a FB group is started, there is still weeding out that must be done before people get comfortable.

  • I'm going to play the devil's advocate here. My last BMB started one early, and 3 years later, I have some of the best friends I've ever made from that group. You don't have to "friend" anyone at first so your profile is still private. Also, hide the notifications if you don't want it to clog news feeds.

I do agree that right this minute is too soon, but I don't think we have to wait until after our babies are born.

But, I'm cool with the majority. Tell me where to be and I'll be there

  • But she hasn't posted anything else, @fitfam20‌. I would feel a little differently (although would still say no at this point) if it was someone who has been actively posting for a few days. But nope. Not even an intro, am I correct?

  • A simple no sorry I'm not comfortable with that would have sufficed. I am not some crazy catfish person. And maybe I didn't think this request all the way through. But now I know not to ask you ladies again. You win. I am done on the bump and will find support for my pregnancy with women who actually want to be supportive and not just rude because it is the internet. I guess I'm just naive and didn't realize people were actually this rude. Sorry if I offended anyone with this post, but I have reported it and hopefully it will be deleted.
  • Thank you @Karrunrun - You are the first person in this April '15 group that has not been rude to me for a simple question. I understand some women are hesitant about joining a facebook group. I would never share anything too personal and would never ask someone to share something I wasn't comfortable myself sharing. I really don't mind no one wants to join. It does not hurt my feelings at all. I just wish people were less rude about declining it.
  • Or... OR she could have read the shit ton of other posts where members have clearly stated their opinions on a FB group at this time. If she was an active member she would have been able to see that just as I was able to. I find answers to some of my questions by looking at other threads. When someone is actually in need of support I have seen support given. When you prove to others that you don't have the time of day to read their posts but want yours read, you're not going to receive the most polite of responses. I'm a grown ass woman though so I can understand that. Plus, we're all in our 1st tri and probably cranky as hell from all these changes, No, we're not going to be nice all the time. THAT IS ALL.

Or perhaps as many of us newbies are, Ashley is a bit overwhelmed by the fast paced movement of this group and its threads having no idea what all the acronyms mean--BTW...a question I was made to feel stupid for asking. I looked at the acronyms, many that are used are not on the blog including the ones I asked about yesterday AND the name of the thread from earlier discussing FB. Again, just because the loud voices of a few said they do not wish to participate does not mean that others do not. Honestly, this thread would pretty much scare anyone away that may want to participate. The fact that so many of you have bonded so quickly at the inexperienced expense of us newer members is no reason to be awful toward someone who simply asked a question. If you don't like it, don't reply to it. Your continual replies are keeping it near the top of the forum making it a topic of discussion.

  • Holy cow..I'm definitely going to think twice about asking a question for now on!
  • I'll even think 3 times to be extra positive.
  • Actually, it wasn't THAT thread. That was one that was helpful. But thank you for taking the time out of your day to research which thread I have posted in and started. It's nice to know you care. It was another thread where I specifically asked about 2 acronyms I has already checked the blog about. Someone kindly answered. Someone else referred me back to the blog. When I told then I had already checked and it wasn't there, THAT was when I was made to made to feel dumb. Telling me they would double check and add the acronyms if they weren't there as if I am unable to read is pretty demeaning. Just saying to check The Blog--as I have seen many times--without kindly telling someone where The Blog is located isn't very helpful. The kind people who did lead me in the right direction were thanked. I looked for the mysterious blog. Guess what...someone who doesn't know there is a MONTHLY blog in addition to the BUMP blog in general can get a bit confused even if they are actively trying to seek the answers to their questions. The BLOG tab on the bump obviously doesn't lead you to A15s blog. But not knowing how this whole thing works, just referring me to the blog doesn't help at all. It also doesn't help when there are active threads bashing "newbies" and all their annoying questions. It doesn't really make anyone who is not completely certain of what they are doing to be an active member.

  • Aren't we all newbies to this board?

  • Also, you can't blame us for not wanting to give our real names to someone who doesn't even have an avatar. If you are in the fb group and post in it, then everyone in the group sees your real name.

Ashley- you could be perfectly nice and normal! We just don't know it yet.

  • If someone hasn't even bothered to one the first thread that says, "New? Read this first. Everything you need to know about A15" than I'll admit not having the patience to deal with said person. If they have found this board they should have found the blog. Just saying.

Also, we aren't counselors or your bff or your mom. We (at this point anyway) are a bunch of strangers. Would you go up to a strange pg girl at your OB office and start asking all sorts of questions. What sort of responses do you think you'd get. I bet I'd be a lot more rude and less funny (especially minus my gifting ability in person).

An IRL GIF party would however be the bees knees.

  • I only ever mobile bump, but seeing all these fly .gifs are making me really rethink my choice.

And just to be topical, I really don't see the point in a Facebook group, period. Can't we get the support we need on this forum? although, I will totally admit to being in the potential minority of posters who use this place in lieu of google, which is a huge bump no no. I guess my reasoning is that while I know I could search for, say, awesome pregnancy-pleasing recipes online, I kind of like having the immediate response of someone who is experiencing the same stuff at basically the same time. There's camaraderie in that more than a yahoo answer from 2009 (blah.)
  • I picture it as a lot of random dance moves!

you can gif on mobile too!

    1. find your gif on google
    2. click "view image"
    3. copy the URL
    4. Open the bump app and go to the post you want to insert said gif
    5. Type       <img src="URL">

and voila you have a mobile gif...

And you are only replacing URL with the https://www.whatever.gif. The quotation marks need to be in the code.
