Yes it was... daycare or financial suicide.. can you tell I love my kid haha
We'll be ok, it will just be a big adjustment and require a whole new set of planning. This was always in the cards, but not for a few more years.. so it kinda threw all the financial plans off kilter.. we will get back on track
as a lot of ladies at work told me.. it's time I can never get back with my lil guy .. and we all know how quickly they are growing... I have ZERO regrets .. it may not have been my initial plan ... but I would still choose it again in a heartbeat.
... been flat broke and survived it a number of times... you just change your priorities
Good luck! Being home with a kid 24/7 is way more exhausting than a "real" job. Our daycare is affiliated with the schools and takes all the school holidays off so I'm home with my son for a few different weeks during the year. By the last day, I'm dying to get back to work so I can rest! My hat's off to all of you who stay home all the time and still manage to hold onto your sanity. Being a working mom is tough, too but in a way different way!
Welcome to being a SAHM. It was a huge transition but one I don't regret. The hardest part in the beginning was the silence. There was no one to really talk to. Now that we have jabber boxes maybe that won't be a problem for you! I know you mentioned your DH is getting ready to go to the academy so just know March 2012 mom's will be here if you ever need to have some grown up interaction or to vent! Congratulations again! Good choice on the vodka
Thanks ladies... I survived my first day MINUS the vodka lol
and @Kaleb87 silence is not a problem... he is currently sitting at the dining room table talking to the boxes of cereal.. he hasn't touched the bowl I made him.. he is just talking to the boxes and making slurping noices.
I actually miss the silence. lol. This rather introverted mama needs some quiet in the day. Don't even get me started on the 'days of over touching.' Some days....I miss working. But then I remember: I worked with kids. At least now I only have to deal with 1 instead of 8-30.

countrygrl5533 .. that is something I don't have to worry about.. In my job there was no silence... unless I was working overtime and everyone else went home. I worked in a large open plan office with cubes.. and one section was a call center for one of the accounts. Between that and coworkers who thought they got paid to be sociable and sit on their phones on personal calls, or hanging out bull$hittin... nope not even my lil guy could make me miss that kinda peace lol
I'm not missing company ..it's actually refreshing only having one person demanding my time and energy and brain power. I had become the goto person/ troubleshooter / gate keeper on our team and that is not exactly a compliment in my eyes.. and was definitely not reflected in my last raise haha which I told my boss when she finished my review with "has become the goto person on our team" LOL
.. I am rather antisocial at the best of times anyway .. and as long as I have my phone and my google+ I can hangout and chat with Dominik on webcam with friends and family if I feel like it. Dominik and Grace (Excited's munchkin) have become webcam buddies over the last year or so and it's always fun to watch them interact.
Grace is such a social butterfly and Dominik plays the silent male.. I think he is just playing hard to get because he is always peeking at Excited and Grace and grinning when he thinks no one is looking.
@lindslalala He is officially in cadet status, but the academy doesn't actually start till the 25th of this month. Right now is out with his FTO and doing ride-alongs etc just like he will do after graduation ... and getting fitted for his cadet uniforms, getting his books, vest etc
I'm in spring cleaning mode... trying to catch up on a lot of things that weren't a huge priority over the last few years.. yay for an apartment with big closets and a knack for making the most of storage.
Dominik is a very good lil helper, when he feels like it LOL.. after months and months of trying to get him to help pick up his toys etc .. he is finally starting to put away his own book, shoes and some of his toys. He is fascinated with watching muffins and cakes rise in the oven.. but is only allowed to watch them if he sits on my knee and doesn't try to touch the door.
He is expanding his taste in cartoons, which may sound like a bad thing.. but if you have watched the same 3 cartoons for over a year... trust me..it's a good thing haha.
I see a marked change in his interest in letters lately too.. which is super cool .. that kid can spot an "o" a mile away.
So far it's been painless.. but that is because I am staying busy..once the apartment is squared away.. mommy will have to get more creative to stay busy and out of trouble.. hmm hang on..isn't it the kids that we are supposed to keep busy and out of trouble?? Oh well such is life lol.
I kinda miss work in some ways, but haven't really had much time to think about it yet... I am sure when I see the drastic hit on the bank account.. I may miss it a bit more lol
