They started to take the baby off the ECMO machine this morning, and as they slowly weaned it down, her stats all stayed steady. They have tried to wean her off a few times before and her stats all immediately dropped. They did a short trial off the machine, and she did not do so well. But because she did so well as they gradually turned it down, they decided to put her back on instead of letting her go as was the plan this morning!!
They are giving her one more day on the ECMO, epi and a high frequency ventilator, and are going to try again tomorrow.
The doctor said she was not afraid to admit she was surprised.
At this point nothing is certain, and her poor family has gone through such a rollercoaster of emotions today, but even one more day is a blessing.
Keep the prayers coming!
