Super Producer Now a Dud!

My super producing breast will hardly produce anything at all now when I pump at work.....I get less than an ounce out.  And both breasts have suddenly experienced a sharp drop in supply and I can not figure out why.  I have been back at work 6 weeks and used to pump 9 ounces in three pump sessions which is exactly what my DD would drink while we were apart.  Then about 3 weeks ago, she became more hungry so we increased it to 12 ounces while we are apart and my supply magically increased.  Then, starting last week, my supply just started to drop and now I might get 6 ounces in three pump sessions.  Any ideas?  I changed the membranes.  I know I am still producing enough for her when she drinks directly from the breast because she is satisfied after a one sided breast session.

  • Yes, the ones I have been using still look like my nipple is centered and not rubbing.

  • I'm not expert but maybe your baby was going through a growth spurt and would drink less now if offered less?

I'm just trying to make sense of things :-)
  • I was going to suggest growth spurt too. Also, if you have a PISA, have you changed the membranes recently?

  • Thanks for the advice ladies.  I took a closer look at ex-super producer while pumping.  I think I do need a bigger flange on that side so I will try that next time I pump.

Somewhat maybe related question: do you keep the let-down feature on until you start to see milk come out?  Ex-super producer won't even let down for the pump now :( Not sure that a flange change can help that?
