Tim Horton's

So I live in St. Louis and the first mention I've heard of Tim Horton's was a couple of days ago on this board. Now I keep seeing people mention it and it was just discussed in detail on Jeopardy with a contestant. I go online to see where I can get this goodness and it is NOWHERE NEAR ME. Not even close. So sad.

Re: Tim Horton's

  • Starbucks is better anyway :) I have about 10 where I live and their donuts rock. Their coffee is good but you can get better else where.
  • Loading the player...
  • Coldstone Creamery joined our local Tim Horton's a couple of years ago. Ah, decisions... I imagine. I don't really eat doughnuts or ice cream. My fave TH nomnom is the BELT on whole grain. Yum!
I'm only 7ish hours east of St. Louis. Maybe one will pop up near you soon!
I'll tell you what we see commercials for all the time even though the closest one is three hours away: Joe's Crab Shack! That's just wrong.
  • I want an iced cappuccino SOOOOO bad I can't even I miss Timmy Ho's so much...

They have a new ice Capp. It's an Oreo one and OMG is it divine! They also have an Oreo Boston cream to go with it but I haven't had one yet.
  • I've never heard of it so I Googled Tim hortons and Starbucks comes up :))
  • Maybe I will head to dunkin donuts tomorrow

  • Another Canadian mama here : I don't think there is anything great about Timmy's. I do like their Boston cream donuts, but that's all. I would rather have Starbucks or coffee at a coffee shop that's only few blocks away from my house.

  • Come visit us Canadian bumpies - they are on every corner here :)
For reals.  I live in a town of 8000 people and we have four Tim Horton's.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, so I don't go often, but they're always our go-to breakfast when we're headed out of town.  Also, I have to agree with PP that an Ice Capp made with chocolate milk is REALLY good.
  • Tim Horton's is finally catching on in Vancouver just in the last couple of years.  Some are busier than others.  I do like Tim Bits and will drink an Iced Cap once in a blue moon.  But that's about it.  Starbucks stores are EVERYWHERE though.  You can be sitting in one and see another out the window.  (You have to be VERY specific when meeting someone at a SB.)

@NunyaBennis we have commercials for Joe's here, too, and crab is my JAM! And the closest one is an hour to an hour and a half away. Not as bad as 3, but still not close enough. The commercials make my heart sad and my belly ache for crab legs.

Also, donuts are one of my favorite things, and I have heard of this Tim Horton's for years, and I fear I will never get to eat one! Same with Voodoo Doughnuts.

  • Tim Horton's is my first love. I don't go there everyday, but only because I have willpower of steel.

Some of my favourites are the sausage breakfast sandwich, steeped tea, turkey bacon club, iced capp, everything bagel with cream cheese, honey crueller, boston cream, maple cream, sour cream glazed....oh I could go on.

Also, have you had their peach drink? That's what they should give you for your glucose test instead of the orange crap!
  • I have never loved a thread title more in my life. I think @Maelara‌ is correct that Starbucks coffee is better, but everything else is perfection.

They have a French toast bagel that takes me to a happy place. The iced Capps are so great, but even better if you ask for it to be made with chocolate milk. And the donuts are great.

For those of you below the 49th who may not know, Tim Horton was a hockey player who died young in an accident, so hockey+donuts= perfection.

Another fun fact: Canadians eat more donuts (or doughnuts) per capita than any other country!

So sorry you're missing out, @Stephaniegiboney‌ - wanna come over to my house?

Ice Capp with chocolate milk is the greatest thing in life. You're my new Canadian Bump crush LOL
  • I feel like Tim Hortons is just.. okay.  It's good and all but I am so used to it now.  I would LOVE to try a krispy kreme donut though!
I've lived near Krispy Kremes and Timmy Ho's.  I much prefer Krispy Kreme's donuts (I know, sacrilege).  And I like lattes from Starbucks or the coffee shop better.  But sometimes you just need that quick and cheap drive through coffee and Tim Horton's is the best for that

@flutterbuggie I hate Krispy Kreme! They have a weird, gross, heavy greasiness to them. People love them, though. They are not for me.

We have a very small chain here called Maple Donuts and I love them. Their version of the Boston Cream is called Kustard Delight (I hate the K thing) and it is so, so, SO good. It is the size of my head. Ok, maybe not that big, but they are big!

Man, today I bought gourmet cupcakes (from a place that won on Cupcake Wars on Food Network) instead of donuts. Now I just want donuts. =((

  • Timmy's is like comfort - not necessarily the best, but oh so familiar and homey. They're so common and recognizable they make good geographical reference points for giving directions. They typically have reasonable restrooms and they don't mind how long you hang out. I often use them as a meeting place/mobile office.

We have Krispy Kreme out here: Greasy and overdone. Not my style.

@AnnieRoo13‌ Gah, right now I could have a Boston Creme for dinner and a Sour Creme glazed for dessert.

It's a struggle to limit my visits during Roll up the Rim.

I used to be so addicted to this stuff. Most nasty sugary delicious crap-drink ever.

Timmie's donuts are crap too IMO, they aren't fresh just like any other chain. And I could write a bucket list of reasons not to buy Starbucks' coffee. I try as often as I can to support local bakeries and coffee shops, but if I had to pick a chain coffee would always be McDonald's hands down.

The little breakfast shop 10 steps from my front door has the most bitchin' home-made donuts ever. They are $1.30 and about 4x the size of a Timmys donut (or worse, a Dunkin Donuts one - those things are pathetic) and SO delicious. I often go just before 2pm when they close and ask them to sell me whatever they aren't keeping for the next day... I leave it in their ballpark how many donuts I am going home with :D

When I worked we had Tim Horton donuts many, many mornings. They were always fresh. Maybe it depends on the time of day? Or the Tim hortons? Have you even had a fresh Boston cream donut? OMG! I wish I could have one right now, soooo good!!
  • @minibean16‌
On my way. I honestly don't know how I'll sleep tonight without a donut. :(

  • Ugh, now I want donuts!

I never worked at Timmy's but I worked in a food court with one and was good friends with a few of the bakers... nothing is fresh. Donuts, muffins, bagels, croissants.... you name it. They used to be until 2002 when they switched to frozen and bought major stock in a bakery plant in Brantford...I can't remember the name of the company. They get everything frozen, bake them, then fill the cream/jelly into them. :(

I think everywhere does that now a days, unfortunately. Subway also does this. Everything is prepackaged and nothing is actually 'fresh'.
  • Oh the ice Capp with chocolate milk...perfection!
  • They are on every corner here...and not really that delicious. I DO love their ice capps but in our town the donuts are always bleh, just not fresh. They've got some killer lemon tarts though!

Local bakeries win any day for sure, but sometimes you just need that pre-manufactured doughnut flavour, ya know?

I live in St. Louis too and I am here to tell you, that we will be getting Tim Horton's soon.  I think within the year they want to open 10-15 Tim Hortons and plan to have over 40.

  • This makes me seriously want donuts. No Tim Horton's in NTX, but sounds like magical place! I guess it would be a bad idea to make a donut run before my glucose test tomorrow. Ha!
