nwmr: need great backup ideas if rains on an outdoor party (5 yo)

Chance of rain for our party at a park... I need some backup ideas we can do under the pavilion so I don't have to move the party to my house (ugh!)...
Anyone had a party or been to one that did something fun that takes up time??? there will be boys and girls there, mostly around the age of 5.

pin the tail on the...
hot potato
crafts if I can find some decent craft stuff to do
we have a pinata
???? any good ideas?

Also if I have 'prizes' for games does every kid have to get a prize or can I truly just get enough prizes for a few of them. I don't really want their favor to be the prize for a game and don't mind picking up a few small things but don't want to have to get 20 more things...!?

  • I am in the same situation. I had already planned to hire a magician for a 30 minute show, so we have that. If we are stuck under the pavilion for the whole party, I am going to bring all of DS's Legos and a craft from Jo-ann (foam bug fingerprints).
DS born 8/8/09 and DD born 6/12/12.

  • I would hire someone to do face painting and balloon animals.  A magician is a great idea too.
  • 5 is a good age because you can still get the boys to do a fun craft.  I would stop into Michael's and see what they have.  Also, kids that age love Bingo and you can buy cheapy prizes for that.  Our local Party Store has little party games you can buy too so I would check that out as well.
