July 2013 Moms

Well that was fun...

DH and I just caught a mouse.  As I was attemping to bump...DH screams like a school girl.

Confirms my fear that we have a mouse in the house.  Get a flashlight and see its hiding behind the toaster oven.   So I set up a shoe box on one side to attempt to trap/barricade it from going any further my way.  DH has armed himself with a pretty pink butterfly net.  I just put Jadzia to bed so I stress he must contain his shrieks. Our attempts to encourage it to go in the shoe box fail as it zooms from its hiding spot and run behind the sink...and hops up into the K cup holders.  We get it to hide between the k  cup holders and the wall.  Try 2 to encourage it to go into the box as neither of us have the guts to try and squish it between the holder and wall.  Mouse decides to run at us instead of away...Cue DH with his pretty pink net quietly freaking out and swinging his net and the shoe box hoping to catch it.  Catch it in the box...cant find the top...mouse jumps out of the box and thankfully DH trapped it in the net.  Then we have to decide what to do next.

So we slide a flexi cutting board under the net to keep it in there.  Cutting board isnt big enough to cover the whole opening.  damn.  So we manage to trap it in part of the next with the shoe box and cutting board.  This trick is taking up all four of our hands.  We then walk out through the dog kennel door, open the fence gate with an elbow, and proceed to walk to the back of our yard in the pitch black.  Then realize in this process the dog fence is wide open.  DH tosses the mouse in the neighbors yard and we run back hoping it isnt following us.

I would have burned the house down.
    You are braver than I. X_X =D>
  • We can tolerate rodents better than spiders.  DH would have used his shop vac with 2 wand extensions and still screamed.  I had to stop myself from saying how cute the mouse was :)  I always had gerbils as a kid.
  • I was laughing too @ Encchanted :)
  • I'm a bitch. I literally laughed out loud at the thought of your husband shrieking while weilding a pink butterfly net.

I'm glad you got the little bastard out of your house. :)

Me too! lmao But cause I know my DH would probably be doing the same thing haha

I'd much prefer a mouse over a spider. Blech! Glad you caught him though!

    Ahhhhh! Same here!
  • Lol that would have been a great moment for America's funniest home videos. I really am not a cat person, but my two are ferocious. Animals dont come near my house anymore (unless they are dead...bleh).
  • Such a funny mental picture :) glad you got rid of him!

  • When it comes to critters and bugs...He definitely loses his man card ;) when he needs to go into the back part of the basement we listen for the screams...because you know the spiders are attacking him ;)
