I dont understand how my numbers were perfectly normal at 7 weeks then got worse during and even more worse after. And honestly, I can barely handle eating with a new born, and now this on top of it?! I just cant =[ I am so scared to drink this drink again. I would rather just not know!

Probably not a great idea to ignore a potential medical issue.
@chickpea912
I know.. And of course I will do it. I just would rather not know.
Think of it that you're going to catch it early and address it before you develop complications then perhaps? Nice little motivator
I guess
Look, @SaraJoy00, you can do one of two things. You can try to look at the positives here or you can be negative about it. First off - you don't even know if you have a situation you are going to have to deal with. You're freaking out about the possibility of a situation, not the situation yourself. So try to not let yourself jump to conclusions before you even have an answer.
And let's just say you end up with that diagnosis. Then you'll deal with it, and you can be positive or you can be negative. I would suggest you go with the positive.
And considering what you have said in the past about your diet, if you DO end up with that diagnosis, you are situated better than most. Another positive.
But first - stop worrying and be proactive with your health.
I second what chick says. And you can't blame yourself if you find out you do indeed have diabetes. It does not necessarily have anything to do with your lifestyle. I know several otherwise healthy individuals with diabetes that run in marathons and such. Right now your focus should be on your LO. Cross that bridge if you get there.
I realize this... sorry just uber upset about it... after being told during my pregnancy it wouldn't be a problem afterwards it was kind of like a ton of bricks being thrown at me finding out today. Came here to see if anyone else was dealing with the same thing and to support each other through it..

I'm trying to support you. I'm trying to get you to stop hyperventilating and deal with the situation at hand, since it seems like you are lost and confused and freaking out. This is support. If you can't see that, then I can't help you.
And if you doubt my intentions, please see the third trophy in my siggy file. I'm board certified here.
No one can tell you definitively what you will and will not experience in this life, so I'm sorry if you were told you definitely wouldn't have issues afterwards. It isn't likely, but no one can say 100% what will be.
I'm sorry, I didn't say you were't being supportive I was saying if anyone else was going through this then we could support each other through the new life change.

@sarajoy00 I hope you get the support and answers you are looking for.

@chickpea912 Well I hope nobody else has to go through this, but if so, that we can share are experiences through it.
My doctor never mentioned a re-test when we discussed it at my 6 week appointment, she said I was fine. It is something though as I am getting older I will definitely keep an eye out for any signs and symptoms and talk with my doctor if i should get a test sometime down the road. Good luck!
@SecondTimeinMSU standard guidelines are that you get retested 6 weeks postpartum and annually after that. The 6 week test should be a GTT as it's too soon postpartum to just have an A1C done, although some docs are ok doing the A1C for annual checks. Should also repeat test prior to ttgp again and in first tri for all subsequent pregnancies. Short answer: your doc should be testing you.
I know what you mean about "a ton of bricks" being thrown at you. I had poor communication when I received my GD diagnosis and was so angry when I finally received the correct information.
With all of the hormonal changes we're all going through and the transition post labor and delivery with a LO, it makes sense that you have a lot of feelings coming up for you. Hang in there and focus on today.
I'm wishing you all the best that your results come back ok!
@LilyanaG1 Thank you!! I saw my nutritionist on Thursday and she was super surprised at the number she didn't even check it until I brought it up and then looked at it because she didnt believe me lol, she said because 2 of the 3 month check was still in pregnancy time, she is wondering if that had anything to do with it. She is aware of it, but said she wasn't going to do anything further about it and that we would check it in another 3 months so that my body has time to adjust post pregnancy and my hormones and such can level out. She said because I am not breast feeding that it will take longer for those hormones to regulate as well as all the stress I have had the last 2 months probably played a huge part in it. We are working on getting me on a healthy diet and routine and lowering my stress levels. I also just got cleared to work out again, so that should help as well. Hoping for better results next time!!
@curlylocks3 dang.. I had the A1C! Psht dumb doc! Hahaha hopefully thats a good indicator for me then when I get it done again in 3months!
@sarajoy00 I'm going out on a limb and guessing your doctor did that because you seem so violently opposed to drinking the glucola. I'm really surprised your nutritionist is just putting this off for another three months. I strongly encourage you to do glucose tolerance test now as it will be the most accurate and appropriate method of follow up. Breastfeeding or not, your hormones should have regulated by 6 weeks, which is why this is when the testing should be done.

I dont oppose to drinking the drink lol. Its not the funnest thing in the world to do, but I have NEVER told them I didnt want to do it!. THEY said it wasn't necissary and said to just get the A1C done! I am just doing as they tell me! I see my nutritionist next week. I will bring up getting the drink test done.
I haven't been around much lately because I have been pretty sick, but wanted to chime in here.
No one mentioned to me getting any follow up testing for the diabetes, but I think I am going to request it soon from my primary care doc. I just had to get my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago, then had a re-operation last week due to a bile leak complication from the first surgery, so I am on a low fat diet. I am trying to avoid sweets until I know for sure I am in the clear, but the low fat thing combined with the low carbs is a challenge with a newborn, recovering from 3 surgeries in 2.5 months and a stupid perc drain in my stomach (ouch). Fingers crossed the drain can come out tomorrow since my ct scan on friday looked much better.
Incidentally the docs did better following up with me about my pre-e... I am now on blood pressure meds because my pressures never totally resolved.
My post partum sugar test isn't until early September. I've been mostly eating the same as when I had GD so I'm hoping I get good numbers on the test!
This is what I have started doing! My nutritionist told me the coffee creamer I was using wasnt good haha so she had me switch to one that didnt have extra crap in it (i need to get better at reading labels ahhaha) and I actually like it so much more! So now im Just being waaay more cautious! Which isn't bad, at least we are eating healthy! LoL Good luck to you!!!!
