Hi ladies- I was just wondering what you guys did (eat/ take) to increase milk supply with your babies? My first born I could only breastfed for 2 weeks bc my supply dried up. Any advice? I'm really wanting to attempt again for baby #2.
I breastfed DD forever but i was blessed that i never had supply issues. I eat oatmeal a lot for breakfast and i tend drink a ton of water. Those things always help. I would ask on the breastfeeding bump boards. I know there are special lactation cookies you can make and special tea brews that help increase supply.

Honestly though, I would attempt first when baby is born and see how things go before starting supplements. Each time breastfeeding is different and this time may come more easily for you.
I would also research Lactation Consultants in your area, they can be a tremendous help in those early days and beyond.
I have never taken anything to increase supply. Just very frequent nursing and moderate water intake. I would consult with a LC to troubleshoot before taking anything.
I agree 1000% that you should work with a good lactation consultant. They can help pinpoint any problems that may be leading to supply issues. Other health care personnel, like pediatricians, can miss things related to BF because they're not as focused on it. Also, I suggest hiring a LC that is focused on you and will visit you in your home after birth should you need it.
I know that my LO was tongue tied, which often results in supply issues, and it wasn't diagnosed by the first two pediatricians he saw after birth, nor was it diagnosed by the official lactation consultant at the hospital where he was born or the many baby nurses who helped me out at the hospital, some of whom were LCs.
I work in a L & D as a doula and get to help moms with initial feedings, and troubleshooting problems in the first few weeks. There's a lot of compelling findings about skin-to-skin and bonding with baby in first two hrs after birth. (NOT saying you didn't) That bonding really seems to trigger supply from the earliest stage! For that reason it's common for C-sections or moms who had to be separated (or sleeping!) after delivery to have slightly more bfeeding issues in general- including supply. Good news is- there is LOTS you can try. Skin to skin contact with baby immediately, plus continued throughout and pick it up again as you try those other lovely suggestions when you feel it's low. Maybe even find a lactation consultant BEFORE you deliver, or go to LLL meetings prior. To have support and ideas in place? The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding by La Leche League is fantastic. I don't have an LLL in my area, so it's super valued! (Or will be!) Here's to a lovely experience! Go you for researching and planning now.
