Two under 2 crib situation

Those of you who will have or have had 2 under 2, what are you doing for cribs? DD1 still sleeps in a crib and doesn't try to get out. She is also a very active sleeper and I'm pretty sure she covers every square inch of the crib at night. We are struggling trying to decide whether to transition her to a "big girl" bed and give DD2 the crib or keep DD1 in her crib (it's convertible) and get another for DD1.

What are you doing or what have you done in the past?

I'm in the same position. N will be 16 months when this baby gets here and is doing just fine in her crib. Our plan is to have this new one in our room until they are 6 months old in the PnP. Then, if N still isn't ready for her big girl bed this baby will just sleep on the PnP until N is. If there seems like there is no end in sight, Ikea sells cribs for cheap, $130 for a nice one. We already have the big girl bed for N (sans mattress) so it's ready when she is! I figure, why pay for another crib if we don't have too?

DS will be 18 months when DD is born. He is a very active sleeper and does amazingly well in his crib. We are not planning on moving him anytime soon.

DD will sleep in the bassinet (same as DS) for the first 3-4 months in our room, then she's going to her room. We bought my BFF's crib for $50 just in case DS isn't ready to give his up come February (I'd rather be prepared for it).

I figure DS will already have enough to get used to with a new sibling around, why screw with what he's used to even more than necessary...

Dd will be 22 months when this baby is born. The baby will sleep in our room for several months in a rock and play, so DD will stay in the crib until we are ready to move the baby to his room. We have her big girl in there now, so we will swap them out when we are ready to make the switch. I am not buying an extra crib. If we have to, we will use the pack and play for one of them for awhile.

I'm not sure yet. Peanut will be sharing a room with Sweet Pea so I'm trying to decide when to do that as well. Pumpkin will be inout room for at least the first 3 months and Peanut will be 20 months old then. I'm think we will give Peanut a big bed for christmas and have him sleep in it in his room before moving in with Sweet Pea.

DS1 had two dressers and as he's gotten older I started hanging more of his clothes, so there was only a need for one dresser. I just got another convertible crib that matches the wood of his (his set is discontinued) and then each baby will have a matching dresser.

My girls are 14 mos apart...we ended up getting a 2nd crib so I could keep my older daughter in her crib....once she hit a certain point, I did convert her crib to the toddler bed.

Just as others have said ds will be 20 months when dd comes along and he will stay in his crib. When dd is about five six months old she will move from our bedroom into his. If he's ready for a toddler bed we will move him into one and her into crib. If that doesn't work she will sleep in pnp or we will get another crib.

We won't quite be 2 under 2, but close. (DS will be 26 months when this baby is born.) We have already moved DS to a twin bed so we can use the crib for new baby.

My first two were 18 months apart and we got a second crib. When DS1 was ready we turned his crib into a toddler bed which he slept in until his 3rd birthday when we bought him bunk beds.

IMO it was way easier to let him keep his own bed (my kiddos were in their cribs right away after coming home from the hospital so we couldn't wait until the baby was older)

Technically not 2u2 here but DS will be 26 months when DD is born. Even though she will be in our room in the RNP for the first 6 months we are still getting her a crib and DS will continue to use his until he starts climbing out. We will most likely take the metal sprimg out and put the mattress inside the crib on floor once he starts attempting to climb out to buy some more time. I just think it will be easier to transition to a bed at 3 or 3.5yrs when he can comprehend the need to stay put better.

I choose my battles and keeping a 2yr old in his own bed isn't on my priorities list. I'd rather focus on learning that hugging the dog and putting the dog in a choke hold aren't the same thing

If we carry till our due date (unlikely with my current condition), our babies will be almost 14 months apart. We are planning on keeping baby in a RnP in our room for the first couple of months. Our LO is currently sleeping through the night and we don't want to disturb her in the beginning with the MotN feedings. After a few months, we are purchasing another crib for second baby. Our cribs convert, so, we will need both eventually.

LO will be in our room for the first 4-8 months. The bedrooms for the boys are on another floor and I don't want to go up and down my 1946 flight of stairs too many times in the middle of the night to feed LO2.

DS1 had all matching furniture that converts to toddler and double bed so he will be keeping it.

All of that to say we will probably get a second crib when LO2 moves out of our room. DS1 does great in the crib and if he starts trying to climb out we will convert it to a toddler bed for him.

We will have baby in our room for at least 6 months (probably closer to 12 months) so Kendall will stay in the crib until we move baby to her own room. We will have a cosleeper PNP in our room.

Ours won't be under 2, but close. DS loves his crib and hasn't attempted to break out yet and since it's a convertible, we'll be getting a 2nd crib. I'm in no rush to transition him to a bed yet, especially considering I'd need to do that soon.

My dc #2&3 are 18 months apart.
When #3 was born, #2 was in the crib and not getting out. I wanted to keep him in as long as possible. So #3 slept in our room (as all my newborns do) and then in the pnp for a few months.

I didn't have room in the boys' bedroom (#1 was in there too) for two cribs. When #2 started jumping the rail, at about 2 yrs, we put #3 into the crib and #2 in a toddler bed. I moved it aside during the day so they could play in the room.

DS was 20 mo when DD1 was born. We wanted her in the bedroom closest to us but didn't want him to feel that she was kicking him out, so we moved him out of the nursery a few months before (about 17 months) and made a big deal of his "big boy room". We put a crib mattress on the floor for a couple weeks and then moved him to a toddler bed. He did fine.

DD will be 19 months when DS arrives.

DS will sleep in our room in a cradle until 12 weeks or so, then he will move into his own crib in his own room.

DD will stay in her crib. She is a peanut and not big on climbing so I'm seeing her stay in her crib until at least 2.5 (next fall). Her crib is white and matches her furniture so we wanted to purchase something different for DS (we went with a darker wood to match his bureau) and also DD's crib will turn into a toddler bed for a few months before we transition to a twin.

Ours will be 13mo. apart. We are planning for LO#2 to be in a bassinet for the first 2+ months, then we'll see where LO#1 is at.

Our family friends gave us a hand me down mini crib and also a toddler bed. Either LO#2 will go in the mini crib, or LO#1 will transition to the bed so the regular size crib is freed up. Of course none of this furniture matches, but that's not really a big deal to me! Still not sure if they will be sharing a room or if we will be converting our office to another nursery...
