We got an official diagnosis today

Which as noted in my diagnosis timeline post, surprises me a little. I had prepared myself to hear something between "she is completely NT" to "she has some quirks and we can revisit this later". However, the psychologist really picked up on her recent regression in several areas, which honestly, I hadn't considered so much until she pointed out the trends over the last 6 months, as well as her increase in repetitive behaviors and interest.

So, she felt confident making a formal diagnosis of Autism - mild. She is recommending OT (pedi had already initiated this) as well as ST. The Dr noted a good prognosis to be expected as DD1 is extremely bright and we will be receiving intervention early. I feel relieved to have an answer and therefore access to more appropriate help. She did recommend approaching her new school with a trial period to see if it is the best environment for DD1.

I was a bit more unexpectedly emotional when she told us this mostly considering the regression and fear of where that may take us. Overall though, I feel good with it, as she is still the same child she was yesterday, now, we can get the the help we know she needs and help her be the best version of her she can be.
