Large cyst and 12 weeks pregnant

I'm 12 weeks pregnant and have been told I have a large 17 cm cyst. Very worried as doctor said it needs to be removed but as I'm only 12 weeks is going to try and drain under local anaesetic.

    I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Personally, I think I'd be more comfortable having it drained under local than having to be put under for an actual surgery.

    I also have a cyst (on my right ovary). I am 11 weeks and my doctor found it at my first appt, a week ago. At this point she just wants to watch it and see what happens. It is currently the size of a "small plum," which sounds huge to me but she says it's not.

    A small plum isnt that big at all, though if it bursts, don't freak out and immediately think its your appendix because the pain is on the right side. I did that the first large cyst I had that burst, about 10 years ago, (about the size of a lemmon I was told) and they put me through a whole mess of unnecessary tests, which they couldn't find my appendix anyway, just to tell me that they wanted to do exploratory surgery to see what the problem was. The only thing that stopped them, and saved my cheer career that year, was that I was hungry.

    The fact that you KNOW about the cyst, if it bursts, will save you a lot of time, money, and headaches. I feel for you. I am still riddles with cysts all over my ovaries and outside of my uterus that I still feel them burst to this day. Good luck and I'm sorry you both are going through this. It sucks I know.
