Ugh...I'm feeling frustrated today (LONG)

I'm trying not to be frustrated with my RE...but I am. And DH is too.

So last month was our first appointment with the RE. I was really excited because after seeing an OB for a year and just having constant questions with no answers in sight...we got some answers from the RE. Scheduled an IUI, got canceled, planned on starting injectables this month.

So I go in today for my CD3 labs (she wanted to get new ones as mine are now over 6 months old), and the ladies acted like this was their first time ever doing this. They had me down to take a hpt on the 4th of the month. Well AF came on Saturday...so today was CD3. I tested 2 days prior to AF as well as day of. I knew AF was coming so it was no surprise that they were all BFN's, but the ladies up front were SO confused as to why I was there today, when I wasn't supposed to TEST until today, and then come in later on for my labs. Well my cycles aren't regular...as I'm sure most people's aren't. So it just took a ridiculous amount of time just to get my blood drawn, so it just put me in a funk right off the bat.

But then I am talking to my nurse to get my SIS scheduled for this month, and I also asked about the injectables (I had no idea you started on CD3 as no one ever told me this). So I was surprised when she said CD3 was the start date. I asked if we would be starting those today then and she told me no because I have to take a class first. Now I understand that this is a requirement, and I absolutely want to take this class....but why in the world didn't they schedule me for the class last month so we could start this month? Of course we were all hoping for a BFP, but seeing as how neither myself nor my RE were feeling very confident about last month, we were supposed to just be preparing for injectables this month.

I am feeling so frustrated. I feel as if there have been so many months that have been wasted throughout this entire process. DH is upset because they do the classes on Tuesdays apparently, and our appointment was ON a Tuesday last month and he commented to the RE about the waiting room being full, and she told him it was for the class, but she never even mentioned that we should take one! Gah!

I'm sorry this is long and just super ranty. I'm just so frustrated with everything right now, and my endo is being a beotch this month and making me want to hurl from the pain. So I'm eating my feeling with some Chinese food and bumping. *sigh* Story of my life.

I'm so sorry your RE is wasting your time (and money)! That's very frustrating!

I'll share my first experience with the RE if it makes you feel a little better. They have redeemed themselves lately but at first I felt like you.

Called to schedule consult in May; no appts until Aug. I take it but get a cancellation on 6/16! Yeay!

When I called in May I asked about Provera since I wasn't ovulating and asked if I should do a round, they said no wait for consult. I ask about it at consult so that I could get HSG and cd3 done soon they said I could do the HSG whenever because I wasn't ovulating so any CD would be fine. I schedule HSG for 6/27.

Go in for the day of HSG and they tell me I can't do it that day!! Guess why? I need to have a period and start a new cycle! Are you kidding me?

So I get prescription for prometrium and start it that weekend, plus wait for a period means I started this cycle on 7/12 when I probably could've started it on 6/23 ish. So annoying! It felt like I wasted a whole month. Sorry for the rant but I totally understand how you are frustrated!! I hope you can get things figured out soon!

I'm with @NariaDreaming‌ a class for injects? It really isn't that hard, my nurse spent maybe 5 mins going through it with me. I'm sorry!

I just switched REs because they made me feel that way. They had too many patients to have a clue what was going on with any one of them. So they in turn make you feel like you're stupid.

And I agree, the class is nonsense. Do you have to pay for it? I wouldn't do it.

So this is what they said about the class: I can either go to the class, which won't cost me, but is an hour and a half long. Or I can have a one-on-one with a nurse, which will take 20 minutes, but they will charge me $250. And I made a comment (thinking I had to go THIS week, because the whole thing was really confusing) saying that it wasn't going to work for my schedule because of working and her response was, "well everyone works and they all have to take time off, not just you."

Almost b*tchslapped her right there. But I held my composure. You're welcome jerk nurse. Then she explained it didn't have to be this week, so I can give 2 weeks notice, and it's fine. But still.

They're dumb dumb dumb. And annoying.

Oh wow I can't believe they charge you for that! And that the nurse said that!! Sorry about your experience. I really like my RE's office but there have been a few times where they did something not very efficiently or pro active and that is sooo frustrating!

((Hugs)) Sorry for your frustration. You would think that they would know the routine and let you know about all the pre-reqs BEFORE you needed them. I completely understand how frustrating "wasting" a month can be. Cycle #2 just waiting for the RE apt. Hopefully they get their act together. If not, it might be worth it to look at another RE......

Sorry you're dealing with this. I would probably go elsewhere if they made me do all that! My RE gives me almost no guidance because they know I'm an RN. I'm the one bugging them for things because infertility isn't my specialty, and I'm double checking all the time.

That's so messed up! Why wouldn't they get you signed up for injection training as soon as injects were recommended for you?

And I'm sorry to say, it sounds like they are nickel and diming you. That is a really weird situation. I would hate to feel like I was just another number in the office. I want to know that every day I have to wait for my baby is important to every staff member at the office. I can't believe they're just wasting your cycles like that. I'm so, sorry.

Ugh. Thanks for all the responses ladies. I told DH the same thing last night about feeling like I'm being nickeled and dimed. What's frustrating is we only have one big RE office in our town. They built this new Women's Hospital which has everything in one place, and once that happened, everyone just kind of combined together. There is one other fertility specialist, but I did not like their office at all, and they refused to bill my insurance (even though I have benefits) because they stated "most people don't have benefits." Well...I do...soooo....bill it. And then the other office is more of a "natural" type Dr. And while I have NO problems with that, it's just not my preference.

I'm going to go through the class and do my injectables next month and just see how things go, but if things continue down the same path, I may have to look back in to that other office and just talk to them more about the billing. We will see I guess.

Thanks for letting me vent my frustrations. After venting here and talking to DH more last night I feel a bit better. Still frustrated in thinking I'm wasting a month, but everything happens for a reason I suppose. Gives me time to not focus so much on IF this month and do that camping trip I was really hoping to get done this summer. So that's a positive!

I also don't get the need for a class on injects. I live 3.5 hours from my RE, so I got all the warnings and instructions via an info folder they mailed me and links to online videos. Doubly frustrating that they didn't tell you about the class ahead of time.

I think anyone should go if it's free and close by (I totally understand if you're hours away or if you'd have to pay). Mine was 2 hours and it wasn't all about the injects. The first hour was really just talking about the process, healthy behaviors etc.... Then we actually got to mix everything and do a mock injection into a cushion. It really put me at ease, just sayin.

I'm annoyed about the way it was brought to my attention and the comments made about my job by the nurse, but I am looking forward to taking the class (since it's free haha). I'm all about learning and educating myself on things. Plus it will kind of be nice to interact with some other ladies in my area who are going through the same struggles as myself. But don't worry ladies, you all are still my #1 IF beotches

@Chasity08, I'm sorry that your RE's office seems like a rip off. To me, I would be screaming their heads off for that kind of treatment. My RE off offers inject classes once a month, and those are $35 (with or without insurance!) and NOT manditory before you cycle. But since they knew I was interested in getting things going quickly, they never even sent me to one. I got the quick demo from the nurse, the instructions guide that comes with the drugs, and was let loose.

I had no problems whatsoever with my injections, even DH did my IVF IM trigger without talking to anyone! (I coached him and trained him day of with a spare syringe filled with water and an orange

:P )

I'm sorry that you have been getting the run around. But maybe venting some of your anger at them will get the fire under their bums to start moving faster!
