Baby growth

This is probably very common knowledge, but I try to steer clear of google and I honestly don't get much information from my midwife. I'm wondering how the baby is growing at this point. Personally I've gained 13 lbs total but I'm the size of a wooly mammoth

Do the babies themselves pack on the weight and hit a ginormous growth spurt in this last trimester or is it all very gradual? I feel like my abdomen could completely explode at any time!

The last trimester is when baby starts getting his/her baby fat. I think typically around 25 weeks baby is still less than 2 pounds vs. the 6-8 pound (or more!) newborn average weight. It should still be gradual but definitely more noticeable in the last tri! As for mommy, about one pound a week is expected gain, until the very end when a slight decrease is common.
