foot pain

Does anyone else have foot pain they never had before?  Google tells me some women have postpartum foot pain, but I think you could find anything to be a postpartum thing so I thought I'd see if anyone else has it.

I noticed it shortly after returning to work, so around 3 months PP and I am now 4.5 PP.  It hurts the most upon getting out of bed in the morning and when I first get up after sitting for a while.  It feels like every bone, tendon and muscle in my feet hurt.  My heels feel bruised.  Anyone else have this, or had it with previous pregnancies?  Did it go away on its own?  If this is a PP thing, I think I officially hate this more than the hair loss if that's possible.

  • Mine isn't that bad but my ankles and feet hurt whenever I try to run. They feel really stiff and a bit painful.
  • Yes, sore and achy like I was on them too long yesterday. Even this morning, when I was walking quickly to the nursery because m woke up screaming, I was like - wtf? I didn't do anything yesterday I don't know if it is hormones and/or the extra weight I need to drop and/or the weight of carrying this giant baby everywhere.

  • Yes! And @kimberpoo‌ my right big toe has been numb for a month! Going to the chiro to see if it's jammed but the numbness sucks.
  • And here we all thought the discomfort and pain would stop once LO is here.  In some ways I am in more pain now than when I was pregnant.

  • I'm a lurker, coming out if the shadows. I hope you don't mind my input, but I think you might be suffering from planter fasciitis. I developed it during my pregnancy, but got worse a few weeks PP. There is a lot of good information on the web. Try to stretch your calf muscles in the morning and get some shoes with good arch support. I hope your pain goes away soon.
  • OP, I agree with @Port2013. That sounds a lot like what happens when my plantar fasciitis flares up. There are a variety of calf stretches you can do that help me a lot.

I know what you mean. I feel like I'm on my feet more than I ever was when I worked retail.

My left hip and Achilles tendon have been bothering me. Since J was 17 lbs. 12 oz. at his four month checkup last week his pediatrician recommended that I switch up which side I carry him on so that my back and hips don't get out of alignment. I don't know if it will help but I'm going to give it a try.

  • OP, I have exactly the same and I agree with PP that it is likely plantar fascitis.  My heels are always sore, but kill right when I get out of bed in the morning (that's evil!).  What I've read online also recommends against going barefoot at all - basically always have good arch support.  And unfortunately, they say massages might help in the moment but do nothing to help it long term (bummer).
