1. When did you stop using a monitor with your older LOs? We still use ours for DD who is 15 months old. We're not sure if we need to get another for this LO.
2. Have you found any kind of double monitor? Would you recommend it?
Yaaaay! Thank you for asking this question.. I asked the same one a couple of days ago in another thread.. my DS is 13 months and we still use ours as well.
Good question! My DD will be 18 Months when this little one is born and wondering if we should get a second monitor or use a double monitor? We currently have a Motorola video monitor and love it. We can get a second camera for it but you would only get sound from whatever camera the monitor is on at the time. So in the middle of the night if it's on camera 1 how would we know LO with camera 2 is crying?
All great questions! Our monitor is audio only. I'm wondering if I should just get another one, then label the receivers so I know which baby is making which noise.
We use a video monitor for our daughter. She's 4 but the reason we still use it is because she has epilepsy so it's easier to catch the seizures in the middle of the night. I know our monitor can have up to 4 cameras attached to it so you can switch between kids and views or just have both in split screen.
We only use our video monitor for A (12 months) when we watch TV in the basement after she goes to bed on the 2nd floor. We might start relying on it again once she moves to a toddler bed, but I can hear her from anywhere in the house so there isn't really and need for it.

We still use our Summer Infant video monitor with DS who turned two in May. We plan to buy a second camera for it. It doesn't do split screen but it has a scan mode where it goes between each camera for a few seconds.
We are still using our Summer Infant video monitor for DS. He is 2 years and a couple months. He's been sleeping better and we can hear him from our room since he's just across the hall, so we'll probably just stop using it for him and move it to the baby's room once the baby starts sleeping in his/her own room.
Baby monitors 4 lyfe! My son is 20m and I keep his monitor on. He has a sensor pad, but we only use it now when he is sick with something like croup. We use the video monitor but not all the time.

DS is 25 months old and we still use the video monitor every night. I like to see what he is doing. He is not a great sleeper and up until about a month ago he would still wake up in the middle of the night. I have no plans of stopping. I think it has an option to buy a second camera. I should look into that.
We only used our monitors until they were regularly STTN. Also, their rooms are relatively close to ours, so if they were crying loudly or screaming, we could definitely hear.
We bought a summer infant video monitor back in 2011. It has the ability to monitor up to 4 cameras. When our 2nd child was born in 2013 I just purchased a 2nd camera. What is does is cycle back and forth between the 2 camera every eight seconds I think it is.
I'm not sure how long people normally use monitors for but right now our bedroom is far enough away from the kids that we can't hear them at night so definitely need them.
We stopped using a monitor with our first two once they were sleeping through the night consistently. Our house then was 1 story and the kids rooms were close enough that if they were to wake up we could hear them anyway. I've never had to purchase a second monitor.
At 4 and 2.5 they now sleep through the night 99% of the time. If they do wake it is just to go potty, which they do by themselves and then get back I bed. Man, it's going to be rough going through this newborn thing again! :-S
