Natural Birth

Great Article on Scientific Reasons for Low-Intervention Birth

I really enjoyed this article and wanted to share.  A big reason why I chose to have a low-intervention birth at a birth center is because I believe that science backs this choice as the safest for low-risk women.  https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2012/03/the-most-scientific-birth-is-often-the-least-technological-birth/254420/

Re: Great Article on Scientific Reasons for Low-Intervention Birth

  • I like that they brought up the institutional problems related to insurance. My insurance company does not have ANY midwives in my area covered, nor any free standing birth centers. Nevermind the fact that for a normal, low-risk pregnancy, to give birth at the birth center down the street from my office would cost them $8,000 all in. That's pre and post natal care included. Because of this I needed to stick with my regular OB, who thankfully I love and is old school enough to be supportive of my hopes for natural birth, and the hospital closest to our house.
