When did you stop progestrone suppositories?

I was told that I could stop after they had seen a viable pregnancy, which was on Monday, but I am kind of hesitant to stop, because it feels way too soon. I am only 8 weeks. In all honesty, I have never felt that the Crinone was doing much for me, but I still have half a package, so I figure I should just use it up, even though I was told I could stop. Maybe it is PAIF brain, but the Crinone at least gives me the feeling of being proactive. Plus, it is kind of just a habit at this point. Does stopping at 8 weeks seem a bit early to you?

My RE and OBGYN both said it was fine to stop at 9 weeks, so I did and didn't have any issues. But I never had a low progesterone diagnosis. If you have some left, no harm finishing out the box!

My advice is going to sound contradictory but here it is... I would say use up the left over crinone since you have it, but I would also say trust your RE. Mine took me off early also sonewhere between 8-9 weeks and I was terrified.. But here I am 25 weeks. I still have left over meds but I was very excited to stop PIO so I did. Are they going to test your progesterone? Mine did and I think that helped me know I was ok to stay off. You may ask if they will test it.

I'd probably use up the Crinone but we pay oop for that med so I'd want my money's worth LOL

My PIO will stop at 8 weeks and I'll be on Crinone (I'm currently taking both) until 11 weeks

This post is giving me hope. I am almost at 8 weeks and still on 2cc of PIO and 4 suppositories a day. My progesterone is reading over 80 (my RE's office can't even register that amount over 40).. I have double lumps and am in so much pain..

I never took the suppositories...I was on injections and started weaning off at 8 weeks. I think my last shot was 9 weeks. It's all science, trust your RE!

I was only on PIO during the 2WW, but took the suppositories from positive beta up until 10 weeks.

Sounds like 8 weeks isn't so early after all, then! Thanks, ladies! @kflynn81, we are OOP, too, so I think I am just going to finish up the box, because it is painful to throw it out and donating it isn't possible where I am. @poohniki, I think if I had to do PIO, I would be way less concerned with having to lay down the needle.

I'm sorry you are in so much pain and hope you are able to wean off the shots soon!

I was told that I could come off at 9 weeks. I decided to come off at 10 weeks only because I had to pay out of pocket for progesterone and I didn't want to waste any of that money.

Usually with an FET you are on progesterone supplementation a little longer. Is your RE checking your levels? To be honest I would be nervous just stopping cold turkey at 8 weeks. Most clinics keep you on suppositories until 10 weeks with FETs. Generally, if they take you off earlier they wean you gradually and closely monitor your levels.

I stopped progesterone at 10w w/ no problems! They took my levels 2 weeks bf I stopped and it was at 47 so he said it would be fine.. wanted to see over 20.

I stopped the estradiol and Endometrin suppositories at 10 weeks. I tapered my PIO between 10 and 11 weeks.

I had an FET. RE had me transition from PIO at 10 weeks to progesterone capsules vaginally. The capsules ended 12 weeks.

I don't think it is too early. The placenta starts making the progesterone somewhere around there, which is why they have us wean off it. Like pp's said, I'd probably use up what I had since it was so expensive unless I had a ton. I did end up back on the supps way later, so it also wouldn't hurt to have a couple laying around as back ups in case your doc wanted you to start taking them again.
