Well this is why I dont answer unknown numbers...

Decided to answer my phone this morning (woken up out of a stupor basically!) Well it was a bill collector for my hospital bill for my HSG that I had back in jan. I have been paying slowly on the other part of the bill ( like 300$ for the cath/film) Well they were like sure you can pay this one in payment but I am going to need your account and routing number. I was like yeah I dont think so I am not ok with that. So in the end I ended up paying them the 800$ straight up. WTF do I even pay for insurance for? Seriouly that 1 procedure cost more then my insurance payments for almost the whole year! I have pretty damn good insurance to but 0 IF coverage. Shits ridiculous! I get so mad sometimes. IF drains me mentally,physically and financially. Frack! /end rant so in conclusion that was an expensive phone call!

Pcos Dx 7/13 Metformin 500mg x2 daily
4/14 Provera  10days  then Clomid 50mg CD5-9 (BFN)
5/14 Provera 10days then Clomid 50mg CD5-9  (BFN)
6/14 (no provera yay!) Clomid 50mg CD5-9  (BFN)
7/14 Natural Cycle Moving on to RE appt not til 7/31 (BFN)  
8/14 Plan of action! Moved up to 1500mg Metformin, Femara 3-7 (Trigger canceled due to not big enough follies and holiday weekend) (BFN)
9/14 7.5mg Femara CD3-7 +ovidrel  (BFN)
10/14 5mg Femara(3-7) Follistim 75 (7-9) +Ovidrel +TI (last treatment cycle this year Breaking til after Holidays) (BFP! Beta #1 114, Beta #2 364)

    Ugh that is a lot of money! I'm sorry you're having to deal with that nonsense! I hate insurance so much!! I am fortunate to have fairly good IF coverage (80% up to a specified max lifetime amount) BUT they didn't approve of any of the meds I needed for IVF so I still had to pay for those completely OOP.


    Me: 32  DH: 33  Married: March 2004

    July 2006: started TTC
    2008: HSG (normal), couple rounds of clomid through gyno
    2008 - 2010: dragging my feet out of fear and procrastination
    October 2010: first consultation with RE, dx PCOS and fibroids (DH slightly low count/motility)
    Oct. 2010 - Dec. 2012:  In DENIAL! avoided the issue because I was scared of surgery
    January 2013: returned to RE, fibroids grew significantly
    February 2013: second HSG, fibroids pushed on tubes which blocked them somewhat
    March 2013: MRI to determine what type of surgery may be necessary
    July 29, 2013: fibroids (5) removed via robotic laparascopy
    August 2013 - Nov 2013 : benched due to recent surgery

    IUI #1, Dec. 24, 2013, BFN 
    IUI #2, Jan. 25, 2014, BFN
    IUI #3, Feb. 25, 2014  BFN
    IUI #4 canceled due to lack of response to letrozole
    IUI #4.1 April 28, 2014, BFN
    May 16, 2014: wtf consult, start prepping for IVF in June and add injects for one last IUI in the meantime
    IUI #5 started letrozole and bravelle but canceled after HSG led to new diagnosis
    May 21, 2014: third HSG, tubes blocked, one at the beginning, one hydrosalpinx??
    June 11, 2014: consult, approved to move on to IVF because the hydro is not completely blocked therefore allowing fluid to move through slowly rather than backwards
    IVF #1 August 8, 2014 - 3dt of 2 embryos, BFN
    September 17, 2014 - 4th HSG, the right tube is very patent (open!!) dye went straight through this time. Weird!
    October 2, 2014 - started metformin treatment
    November 14, 2014 - blood work, brought A1C down from 5.8 to 5.5
    November 26, 2014 - RE finally back from vaca and reviewed my chart, no more IVFs for rest of calendar year
    December 1, 2014 - Right after Thanksgiving, I called a new clinic and got in right away! Plan for IVF
    December 17, 2014 - ER! 29 retrieved (!!), 16 mature, all 16 fertilized (ICSI)
    IVF #2 December 20, 2014 - 3dt of 3 embryos, BFN

    We are done with treatment unsuccessfully. :(

    Yuck! I'm just starting to take initiative on the whole IF thing, but the insurance piece is totally freaking me out. I'm so sorry you have to go through that BS on top of everything else!

    Me: 27, PCOS. DH: 28, TBD.

    Married since August 8, 2009

    2009-2011: TTC 12+mo. Irregular periods, normal blood work.
    2012 - 07/2013: Baby plans on hold. Back on BCP.
    07/2013 - 06/2014: Off BCP to try again. Completely absent periods. High testosterone. Referred to Endocrinologist.
    07/24/2014: PCOS diagnosis. Lifestyle changes before determining next steps...
    08/16/2014; CD1!! (Provera)
    08/26/2014: RE Consultation. Plan is to continue weight loss, prescribed levothyroxine (50mcg) for slightly high TSH.

    July/Aug. 2014= Femara+trigger+TI=BFP!!
    Beta #1@ 16dpo=626!! Beta #2=1510
    Ultrasound @ 5w6d=heartbeat at 110!

    I'm so sorry, that is super frustrating.  My insurance covered all my diagnostic exams but then was like "No thanks" when we actually moved into treatment.  Makes no sense whatsoever.

    Also, I love that you said frack.  BSG fan?

    UGH I'm not looking forward to all that... Our insurance covers up to diagnosis so I think that will cover the HSG and the like, but after that I'm afraid it's 100% OOP. Sorry to hear they disturbed your slumber! That sucks. Hopefully things get better soon.

    Yep, I'm waiting for the bills to roll in. Our deductible just reset, so monitoring temporarily got much more expensive. I'm thankful that insurance has been covering u/s and labs even though they don't cover some of the meds or anything related to my RE.

    TTC since February 2013 --- mild thin PCOS (or not, depending on which RE you ask), MFI

    TI#1: BFN (April 2014; Clomid 50mg x5 days, Estrace x5 days, Clomid 50 mg x4 days)
    IUI#1: c/p (May 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Estrace x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x10 days)
    IUI#2: abandoned... O'd early & DH hormone issues (June 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x2 days)
    IUI#2.1: BFN (July 2014; Letrozole 2.5 mg x5 days, Bravelle 75 IU x4 days)

    Moving on to IVF. (Why we're moving on to IVF)

    IVF#1 (w/ICSI): BCP 9/9-9/23. Gonal-F, Ganirelix, Low-dose HCG (antagonist protocol). 41R/35M/32F... 2 transferred on 10/14, 14 frosties! On cabergoline to help avoid OHSS. BFN, possibly because of 90% drop in estrogen and progesterone a few days after ET.
    FET#1: Transferring 2 on January 8. BFP! beta#1 (1/17): 408, beta#2 (1/20): 1310, first u/s scheduled 2/5

    Boo what a shitty way to wake up :( i'm currently trying to find out how much my hsg will be and am seriously nervous about one more huge addition to the bill pile-we're 100% OOP as well. 
    You said it perfectly..it's totally draining.

    NTNP for about a year before actively 
    TTC since April 2013
    Currently testing for infertility cause and hormone imbalance.
    Infertility & ovarian cyst diagnosis: May '14
    B/W: 'good', more ordered to check antibodies & progesterone
    SA: Normal :)
    U/Ss for cyst: who the f knows
    DH's cat scan: showed encapsulated fatty growth; u/s: didn't really show much more
    Breast Specialist: Most likely a large fibroid, but keeping an eye on it, repeat u/s every 6mos 
    HSG: clear tubes, uterus is A-ok
    WHAT'S NEXT: DH's consult with surgeon to discuss next step for growth, either biopsy or surgery~Big discussion with Dr. before any possibility of starting Clomid, since I'll want another u/s before and to be monitored and he doesn't seem into that. I had to force his hand just to order the AMH test so may be looking for another OB
