Pregnant after a Loss

Question about movement

I'm starting to panic. I've felt flutters for weeks now. Everyday. It's been 2 days of nothing. I'm 18 weeks. Do you think there could be a reason? (Baby moved someplace or something). Or should I call my dr?

Re: Question about movement

  • 18 weeks is really early to feel consistent movement.  You could call your dr for peace of mind, but it's common that early to go for periods without feeling anything.

  • I'm 16 weeks second lo and I think I feel flutters once in awhile but not sure...it is alarming I ask dr yesterday and he said should feel consistent movement this week..I think he is going by size. You could call maybe they could get you in for quick Doppler! Good luck..it is scary!

  • It is very common to not have consistent movement that early on. I did not even start to feel my LO until 21 weeks and even then some days I would not feel her. If you are concerned call your doc for peace of mind.

  • I will echo what pp have said.  18 weeks is early still.  I'm not sure I even felt anything at that point (but I do have an anterior placenta). I didn't get movement every day until more like 22 weeks and even then, she'd go for 7-8 hrs with nothing.  One day I believe she even went from like 10pm one night until 7pm the next day.  Scary, but totally normal.

I asked my dr at 28 weeks about when to call.  She talked to me about how normal it is to still have worrisome periods even at this point and everything.  And then, she told me that if I needed to come in 23 more times to check then that's what I'd need.  Not a problem.  So, if you're really worried, I am sure that your dr would be more than happy to check on things for you.
