Occupational hazard

I work late hours and keep my lunch and dinner in the fridge. After three times of having my tupperware, silverware, and food tossed out by the janitorial staff, I finally contacted the building manager. By this time, I'd spoken to the guy who cleans our floor and have been labeling all my stuff with, "I'm still here. Please do not toss. [my name]." The response I got from the building mgr was, "Sorry to hear about your salad dressing. Please keep in mind the fridge is cleaned at 4pm." So basically, the guy who sees me working late Tues thru Fri, knows my name, and saw my label on my food, gets a free pass to throw out my stuff whenever if I don't get it out of the fridge by 4pm. Awesome. I should have been a janitor.

Re: Occupational hazard

  • Thanks. Just needed to vent and not feel like I was the crazy one. In the scheme of things, though, it's really NBD.

  • @ClaryPax: It's only cleaned out on Fridays. Not sure if that makes it worse or better. It certainly sends their batting average way down. Basically of the 9 or something Fridays I've been back, they've thrown out my dinner 3x. And I was gone for 2 Fridays, so they're throwing out my dinner 50% of the time.
