So I'm due on valentines day! I don't want to have my shower in January that's too soon for me! And it's so hard picking a date when Christmas and thanksgiving are around that time! Is November too early? Or should I stick with December?
Well, you shouldn't throw your own shower but if someone offers to host one for you, I would suggest sometime before or after thanksgiving. My friends are aiming for the first weekend in December.
Can't wait to meet our darling daughter, Abigail Elizabeth
I'm not hosting mine, but when I was asked, I said I would prefer to have it in November. Before the hokidays, with enough time to set everything up, return or exchange things, and not be huge.
Lol if November is too early, mine is crazy early in October. We want everything ready by week 28 which is in November, so an October shower gives us time to decorate, organize, and shop for what ever else we need before then. But at the same time we're having twins so the rule of thumb is having things ready by 28 weeks.
ETA: My MIL is hosting and wants it done before the holidays also
I'm due February 9 and I have opted for a November 1st shower date when asked. I didn't want to do it in the middle of the holidays, plus with twins, I doubt I will make it to February....

Twins? You mean two babies? WOW!
Team PURPLE!!
We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
EDD is 2/7... Shower date options are 11/29 or 12/6 I don't think the Saturday after thanksgiving will be that big of an issue. Most of my friends are local or will be okay having Friday as a travel day... And my out of town family is coming here for thanksgiving anyway.

since there are so many holidays around February my mom thought it would be a good idea to do it at the end of October... I still think that October is way too early for a baby shower, but there are just way too many holidays at the end of the year!
Just an fyi... I know January wont be the popular choice but its easily done. I had my shower exactly 1 month before I went into labor (shower june 2, baby july 3) we got everything washed, set up and ready in plenty of time.
That being said if your having twins obviously I wouldnt wait that long.
@chickyclg sigh, I wish we could be ready by then but we can't even move into our new townhouse until I'm about 32 weeks along. What fun that will be for FI and friends.

My mom & her best friend decided the 2nd week of November for my shower. Also I was a little excited because whatever I need after the shower I will get on Black Friday! We're having twins so our goal is to have everything ready by 30 weeks.
My mom is throwing me one the weekend after thanksgiving due to having family in from out of town. Just makes it easier for those people to attend. Just have it when ever your comfortable or what works best for who's throwing it for you!
My mom is throwing mine. We were just discussing this the other day. I am due Feb 1st. I don't want January in case I deliver early plus it is a busy month for my family with birthdays and celebrations. I think December would be too much on everyone with Christmas approaching. So we decided on November sometime before Thanksgiving.
I don't think November is too early. I think when you're around six or seven months is about average. You want to have to set everything up, return stuff, etc and you may not want to do it when you're super huge and uncomfortable and maybe can't enjoy it as well. And lots of babies are born weeks early.
I see a lot of moms mentioning when to be ready by for twins. Is there a rule of thumb for singletons? Like 36 weeks? Thanks.
I have no idea when my mom, aunt, grandma, and party happy friends will be throwing it for me. Probably sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. My moms, dads, and paternal grandfathers birthdays are the 28th, 29th, and 30th of November. My hubbys birthday is the 9th of December, and my aunt's birthday is the 27th of December. My mom and step dad will be gone at Disney World during the last two weeks of October. I'll be at an anime convention the second to last weekend in October plus my great grandma's birthday, that last weekend in October, and then Thanksgiving will be right around the corner. So I think they will almost have to do it either right beforw Thanksgiving or between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
And January will be no good because we have my maternal grandfathers birthday on the 18th and my sisters birthday on 10th. And I'm going to be so swamped at work that I won't have time to go and spend my gift cards or exchange anything for something else. And by that time February will be here and I'll be due any day after that. So, I have no idea, though, I think my aunt and I will be discussing it this weekend. Its only fitting that she and my mom throw me mine since me and my grandma threw hers for her.
Ha nobody's offered so I haven't thought about a date! I'm such a planner though that I think id opt for a November date. I'll Black Friday shop too, so hopefully before then
I'm due on the 28th. This is my 4th (6 years in between the last) I'm hoping to have mine on Super Bowl Sunday kinda late but I'm mostly in it for the diapers.
