Help - Puffs

We tried to give DD puffs for the first time today. I put 5 on her tray and she played with them. She opened her mouth and DH put one in her mouth to show her what to do and she projectile vomited. He had to catch it and we took her over to the sink in case she did it again. She didn't. He barely put it in her mouth, it was on the tip of her tongue. After she played and was fine, and ate her next bottle with one problem. Maybe she didn't like the flavor or the texture. I'm not sure. Should I just wait a while and try again? Maybe with a different flavor?

Re: Help - Puffs

  • There's no rush. I would introduce it again later. My guy is 8 months and I am very gradually introducing food. He still wants to be spoon fed everything. He was in heaven trying a fruit Popsicle the other day. He kept looking at me like he was getting away with something. Trying to make it enjoyable, and limit the gagging and drama.

  • I would just try again in a few more days. The texture is just so different from what she's used to probably. Is she eating other finger foods yet?

  • It was probably just the texture. P did this with real sweet potatoes (as opposed to puree) and watermelon. I'd wait a few days and try again.
  • It takes them a while to get used to food with texture.  Wait a bit and then try again.  Follow her lead

  • DD gagged on them when we first tried them.  It was a little unnerving, and DH And I felt she wasn't quite ready.  We packed them up and tried again after another month or two.  She was ready when we tried them again.  In the mean time, we started adding more finger foods like steamed peas and carrots, etc.  I also tried the yogurt melts.  Those were easier, and I broke them into smaller pieces to start.
