First cold

Any good mommy tips or tricks as my LO seems to have his first cold?

Hacky cough, sneezing a little more and just looks kinda miserable. He's definitely more tired but his cough keeps waking him up and having a hard time staying asleep. I've been comfort nursing a lot!

I have a humidifier going already. Nurse said to call back if symptoms change or get worse :-(

That's pretty much all you can do for a cold. Just try to keep lo comfortable. Mine was sick for the first time about a month ago. His pedi recommended that he sleep in his snuggapuppy thing for a couple of weeks since his nose was kind of congested. Just keep checking for a fever regularly.
Maybe ask about giving them infant tylenol if lo does run a fever or act uncomfortable. I would be a little concerned about the cough though. I would think they would want to check that out and also make sure there's no ear infection or anything. My lo got better pretty quick and it never became anything worse than a cold. His pedi said babies generally do better than adults with colds.

  • Oh yeah and nose suction!
  • Try to prop him up, so he isn't laying flat. If he's in a crib, we would roll a towel and place it under one side of the mattress. That way one end is slightly elevated.

  • My lil guy woke up on Sunday with a cough, a lot of sneezing and his eyes were red all day. Like you, we thought he was getting a cold. We took him to dr first thing yesterday am bc he was still coughing. Sure enough he has an ear infection. We caught it early but he still needs 10 days of antibiotics. Dr recommended saline drops for his stuffy nose. You may want to have him looked at by your dr if you can. I hope your LO feels better!
