Bathtime Suggestions needed.

Hey ladies, I need some HALP!

LO is too big for the sling chair we give him baths in.  I need a good recommendation for the next step.  He just seems too tiny to just be in the tub. Plus he's not sitting yet and I think banging his head would be very likely.  What are you using for bath time?
I like the inflatable tubs, the big ducky one is too cute.  But our bathroom (and whole house) is small and lacks storage.
I've seen online suggestions to just fill the whole tub and put baby in a wash basket, has anyone tried this?
How about these chairs? Any feedback?

I've thought of just showering with him, but this makes DH nervous and he does about 1/3 of LO's baths.  Choosing this option means I'll lose the help.

I'm looking for a recommendation that is easy to clean and store.  Thanks!

    Picture didn't work.

Here's the chair I was talking about.  Also I attached a picture of  the laundry basket idea from google.

  • I have an Angelcare bath support. Sorry on mobile or I would link. You can get it at Target, BBB, or amazon. I really like it and it should work fine for the next month until LO can sit up herself.

  • I did this the other day while I showered, then showered DS. He loved grabbing the water spray. The warning says not to be used as a bath seat but I figured that meant submerging it. image
I hope to create a real siggy but first I need some sleep!

  • We use the kitchen sink.

I take issue with *some* of the things in their books, but practical stuff like this they have down pat.

  • If you really want to be minimalist you can put a small towel in the bottom of the tub, lay baby on it and fill the tub like an inch full.

It is a tricky transition. You don't really want to buy anything because before you know it the baby will be sitting up in the tub but she isn't ready yet.

This is what we did when DD outgrew the baby tub.  She loved to lay on the bottom of the tub and wiggle around.

  • I fill it up about an inch or two deep, and she will either sit or lay on her back while I wash her. She has fun kicking herself up and down the tub
  • Another vote for the AngelCare seat...my LO loves it because he can kick his legs and get a good splash, and he still stays put.

    We use the kitchen sink.
Kitchen sink here, too.  We have a big single basin one.  It's a great size for him.  I scrub it out first before bath time!

ETA: I only put a few inches in and let him splash around.  He loves it!

We have a seat that we put in the tub. MH does 99% of bath times (He lets her play... I don't like water in my face, so I can't let her splash as much as she likes). He'll put her in the seat to wash her, and then once that is done, let her sit in the tub. She is getting more steady-last night he actually took his hands completely off her for a few minutes, and she sat so well!

ETA: Posted too soon. I plan to transition to the kitchen sink soon, once she is more consistent at sitting on her own.

  • I just got the chair that @Meghan14 posted and I love it. My LO is very squirmy and he does well in it. He can sit up, but I think it would probably support a baby who needs a little.

  • Oh, I forgot, we have a mini tub that was given to us as a hand-me-down. It has been holding blankets, so I forgot its original purpose is a tub! It is not molded at all in the tub, it's very simple.

FWIW, my SIL swore by the bath sponges like this:image

  • @Bluedot818 : the duck is what I want so badly, but there is no where for us to store it. If LO had his own bathroom we'd be all set.

Thanks for the help girls! I tried to love tit all the posts, but I kept getting a "whoops" page.

I wish we could use our kitchen sink. It's a double sink, so neither side is big enough.

I think I will try to combine the towel and laundry basket because cheap.  Does anyone need me to report back?   If that doesn't work, I'll be definitely trying all your other excellent suggestions.

  • Totally guilty of using the bumbo here. We just got the ring. Had one with the bigs and loved it so I Craigslisted one for E.

They are also awesome for the baby pool too!

  • Like others, I just fill tub with an inch or two of water, lay him in it, and soap him up.

    No fancy seat/tub required.
  • I actually don't like the ducky tub. I felt like there wasn't enough support before LO was sitting, and now that he is sitting, it's too small. He tries to pull up in it and then gets frustrated because it's too slick.

I'm with the others: you're too close to independent sitting to invest in anything now.

  • Another vote for an in or two of water in the big tub. He absolutely loves it, the first time he was a little scared and wasn't comfortable with it. But now he splashes all over while trying to swim on his back and laughs the whole time. I wish I would've thought to do that with my other two. Saves some space in our tiny bathroom not having to store a tub or seat in there.
