Instyler Have you used it?

I'm thinking about getting the Instyler, but before I do I'm wondering if anyone here has used it, was it easy to use and quick to use, does it really straighten hair, was it worth the price?

I had one and loved it! It worked for me and for M and we both have thick, kinky/curly hair. But it did die after about 2 years though and we only used it a couple times a month. I don't know if that's typical or a fluke.

  • Was it easy to use @peanutbutterfox?  Or do I need to have some actual talent?  My hair is thick and wavy, so typically I just let it air dry with some product in it, but in the dead of winter it might be nice to leave the house with dry hair.

  • Yes, but I was not crazy about it. But, my hair is pretty fine and the instyler kind of made me look like a president's wife.

  • @bluepointtoasted & lucilleaustero, those are both my concerns as well.  I have a flat iron at home and I'm crap at using it and when I do my hair tends to come out "stiff".  But when my hair dresses does it, it's freaking awesome.

  • Hmm, I think maybe I will get one.  Every school year I resolve to look more "polished".  I'm pretty sure always coming in with wet hair doesn't fit that description.

  • They are doing some 30 day trial, buy one get one free.  IF my friend wants to try the other one I'm going to do the trial.

  • @bluepointtoasted if you can use a flat iron, you can use an InStyler. You just clamp at the root and pull down to the ends.

  • Oh.  I thought this was the thing that blew dry and straightened your hair all in one step.

  • I don't have the wet to dry one. I have an instyler, but it was given to me as a gift. It's okay. I wouldn't have paid for it myself probably. I don't have curly hair. It's just thick and wavy really. I don't use it for anything other than straightening. I've never been able to figure out how to use it to curl my hair. I still have a cheap regular flat iron that I think works just as well.
