Taking diaper off?

DD has started a new thing of taking her diaper off when she's going to sleep. It seems like she does it while she's falling asleep and is bored just laying there. It doesn't matter if there are pants or shorts on, she just takes those off and then takes the diaper off. Should I put on tighter than normal shorts? A onesie? We don't have very many onesies left as she's almost two but I would go out and buy some if it meant curbing this habit.

Re: Taking diaper off?

  • My younger daughter was the worst! I tried onesies (she still managed to pull that diaper through. I ended up doing zip up pjs backwards (shorties in the summer, and long in the winter). Worked like a charm!

Where could I find zip up pjs that would be short and breathable enough for summer? I don't think I've ever seen any. Those would be a godsend.

    Children's Place has them.

I know this because the week DD2 was born DD1 decided she can't keep a wet or dirty diaper on for 10 seconds, or in bed, or if she could reach the tabs...

We will be trying to potty train her soon (like as soon as DH will read the materials I gave him and we can decide on a method) but zipper short PJ's have been a lifesaver the last few weeks.

  • Haha, tell me about it! DD started doing that right around your DD's age! She still does it, too, so the solution we've come up with is buying pjs that have a zipper and then putting them on her backwards, so the zipper is on the back and she can't access it. Carter's pjs work well if you cut the feet off, and there's another brand Walmart sells that's great. She sleeps in pjs for naps too because of this. *sigh*

Hmm, I wonder if we have a children's place in town here. I'll have to check and found out.

I have a 18mo old onesie that she still kinda fits in. I think I'll try that on to see if that will work or if she'll unbutton that too.

Nothing like coming to get her up from
a nap and seeing the diaper strewn on the floor and poop just chillin' :-w

  • We did onesies. Hey, look on the bright side--dd started doing that around the same age but would pee on the floor instead just to drive me crazy. Lol. Kids.

  • DS went through a phase of this last year. What a PITA. Onsies helped at first ( he could still fit in 24,then) but after a week or so he would just unsnap them or pull his diaper through the leghole. Then, one day, he just stopped! Lol so hopefully it's a quick phase :)
  • Onsie worked for us thus far

We were at the mall on a whim today and I happened to walk right by one. I found a 12-18 short sleeve one and also a 24mo long sleeve, but with no feet. Aussie45-1 BabyAussie-4. Time to even that score out! ;)

  • Emme just started doing that recently too!  She will be two (!) next week.  Today I had to laugh because she was wearing a skirt...I didn't notice she was diaper-less until she peed on my mom. :)
  • Sleep sack put on backwards. Halo makes them in cotton or fleece.
