Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Period after Miscarriage

I know a lot of us just recently miscarried naturally or had a D&C (I am so sorry for your loss), but for those who are a little further along...
1. How long did it take for you to get your period?
2. Did you miscarry naturally or have a D&C?
3. How many cycles are you going to wait to start trying again?
4. T&P for you. I am so sorry for the pain you are going through and your loss.

Re: Period after Miscarriage

  • Answering with info about the first time

    1.  6 weeks after I miscarried (It took two weeks before my HCG levels were down to 0 after the mc)

    2.  Naturally.  Discovered at 10 week u/s, baby died in the 8th week, mc'd at what would have been 11 weeks 5 days.

    3.  We were told to wait 2 cycles and we did.

  • 1) 31 days

    2) naturally- didn't know it was going to happen until it already had

    3) we waited one cycle because I wasn't emotionally ready to try again any sooner

  • 1. How long did it take for you to get your period? This most recent loss was pretty drawn out (it was twins and I miscarried them naturally a month apart), but it took about 2 months before my period came back.
    2. Did you miscarry naturally or have a D&C? Miscarried naturally this time because I had already started bleeding on my own, but I wish I would have opted for the D&C.
    3. How many cycles are you going to wait to start trying again? We're no longer trying and are CFNBC. But my doctor said I could start trying again after one full cycle.

Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
  • I'm also going to answer based on my first loss. @cherylanddoug‌ I recognize you from the March board and I'm so sorry we both have to be here :( 1. It took 38 days for my period. 2. I had a d&c. We waited two cycles as per recommendation.

  • 1. It only took a month for me to get my period.  It made me think my body had returned to normal quickly, but I'm charting and my temps are all over the place with no pattern and my cycles have been shorter.  (it has only been 2 months but feels longer)

    2. Naturally

    3. We were told to wait 2 cycles. I don't know if I'm ready to TTC or not.  I want to, but feel like it will be so difficult emotionally. And I'm unsure if my body is ready..
  • 1. It took about 1 month from the actual passing of the fetus for me to get my period.
    2. I had a natural mc. I found out at 11w that the baby stopped growing around 8w and had the mc at 12w.
    3. My dr told me that there was no medical reason to wait. My hcg levels went down in about a week. They recommended waiting 1 cycle but said I could even get pregnant in between the mc and my next period.
  • My miscarriage was completed on September 11, so I haven't had my period yet. I used Cytotec, and had success after the second round. My OB said I needed to wait two full cycles to heal. My psychiatrist exhorted us to actively avoid pregnancy for that duration for our psychoemotional health.
  • 1. It took 31 days from my D&C to get my period.
    2. D&C
    3. 2 cycles per doctor's orders.
