I teach elementary school and we had our first day of school today. I thought I would feel miserable being on my feet all day and running around with the kids, but I actually feel pretty good! My back is a little sore, but feeling good other than that

I start back teaching tomorrow. I am glad you are feeling ok. I too, am dreading going back being on my feet all day. My feet are already swollen with me just lounging around the house. The first 2 weeks back to work without even being pregnant is rough on your legs and feet anyway. I can't imagine what it will be like being 32 weeks. Btw, I teach 7th grade Math. I hope you have a great school year, and a wonderful pregnancy.

@Emerald27‌ we start WAY too early here in GA. It is hard to say summer is over when it was 94 degrees today!

I started back to school today too. I had my moments of misery. Lunch duty was the worst because I couldn't sit down even if I wanted to.

We start back on Wednesday, the 13th...9 days away. I'm dreading it too. I plan on working until my water breaks..here's to hoping it's not while we are teaching! 8-}

We start the 18th and kids come in the following week. I teach HS social studies and have 4preps this year, two of which are AP. @-) really nervous about keeping up with planning and grading esp. after LO arrives. Also dreading writing 6 weeks of lesson plans...I usually don't formally write them out.

Wow some of you start early... I don't start til after labor day (first grade) I am glad to hear your first day back wasnt horrible .. gives me hope I am worried about being on my feet all day.

@cmac6186 you have to write lesson plans while on maternity? Thats crazy!

We do start early, but we got out before Memorial Day so I can't complain.

@cmac6186‌ 6 weeks of plans is crazy. I only have to have 2 weeks of plans and then my supply teacher has to do the planning.

I feel like working makes the time pass faster, every time I think about it another week has passed. That being said, I am struggling and looking forward to being done working. Until then I will "just keep swimming".

Wow Memorial Day thats awesome. I have 12 weeks off and don't have to plan for any of them... I will probably just leave a cliff notes version of where we are and where we were heading in lessons

I'm in AZ and my daughter is in her third week of school already. Other schools in the area started back today and some start in a few weeks. I'm glad you feel good. Make sure the first lesson you teach them is that if you drop something they should pick it up for you.

I think I probably overthink things but I definitely need my AP classes on track for when I get back so I'm going to write those plans out before I go on leave. I just don't trust a sub to be able to prepare sufficient plans for them. The other 2 preps I'll write detailed plans for a few weeks and then outline the topics that need to be covered while I'm out. I'm only taking the 6 weeks covered by my sick time and disability.

I start back the 18th and the kids come back the 25th! I am starting to get a little nervous about going back and being on my feet all day chasing first graders! It really is great to hear you had a good first day back with the kids!
