Don't flame me. This is a real question. DD will usually cat nap a few times but nothing longer than 45 min to an hour. She usually gives me a solid 5-6 hour stretch at night and then another 3-4 hour stretch.
Two nights ago, she slept from 10pm - 5am. A little longe than normal and took a longer nap during the day. Last night she slept from 9pm-6:15am. I went in her room at 5:45 to make sure she was still breathing! She napped today for 45 min around 9 and another 45 min around 12. She's been asleep since 1pm. It's now 4:15 and she's still sleeping.
Is all this sleeping indicative of a growth spurt or something? For those mobile, she is 11 weeks.

I've noticed LO is a little sleepier during the day than he has been in the past. He is almost 11 weeks. I have also been using the 12 hours by 12 weeks method so he sleeps for about 12 hours at night (7:30pm-6:45am).
We had a 48 hour period of this kind of sleep with DD. She slept 11 hours the first night, took more and longer naps than usual the next day, and then slept 10 hours the following night. Since then, she's back to crappy cat naps during the day, and the longest stretch of sleep we're getting overnight is 6 hours. I keep thinking its a growth spurt or she's working on a new skill, but that probably won't be evident for a few more days.
I'd say enjoy it while it lasts!

My guy is almost 12 weeks and the last week or so has basically been napping all afternoon. He will wake up to eat and play but then he is back to sleep. We get about a 6 hour stretch at night, sometimes more.
I don't know exactly what causes it (growth, immune response, development, etc), but I do know it's normal. Both of my kids have gone through sleepy phases. DD is going through one this week, in fact. She's happy and content and would rather nap than nurse or interact, and I'm just following her cues. I know it'll be over soon and she'll be hollering at me for a boob and a change of scenery.

We have had a couple days of super long naps this last week...like 4 hour naps, that is absolutely not normal for LO. He usually sleeps 45 min to an hour for naps. But at night he goes down around 8:30 and usually wakes around 4-5am, eats and goes back to sleep for a couple more hours.
