Uncomfortable Movements

I love watching my stomach when baby girl moves around. It's really cool to see a wave go across my belly and then end with a pronounced kick. However, lately it's been getting super uncomfortable and will make me nauseous every once and a while. I get that she's running out of room in there and all...but are baby's movements making anyone else feel sick or uncomfortable? Anything that makes you feel better? Any specific positions?

  • Oh yes. I just hold on for dear life and try to contain him with my hands and arms. I haven't found anything that makes it better. I think they are just running out of womb.

  • Yep!!! Only thing that helps is sitting in a chair that reclines back or laying on a side for me!
  • Man my little guy must be lazy.  I get some pretty strong movements especially the last few days when Ive been using inversion and pelvic tilts to hopefully spin him from breech, but nothing super crazy that stops my in my tracks for the most part.

    Im sorta jealous!

  • Mine seems to be pushing up on my stomach and also my bladder at the same time right now.  :P  I'm not complaining a bunch about it -- it's nice that she's moving though uncomfy at times.  I usually will just rub my belly.  makes it feel better.
I was actually thinking this morning that while I will be so excited to meet the baby, I'm also going to miss my bump...

  • Yes! Today especially. I am so sore at the top of my belly that it hurts to move. I never experienced movement like this with my first.

  • Ditto PPs...my rib cage/top of belly is so sore, feels bruised! And sometimes I feel like she's trying to stretch out in there with nowhere to go so I get crazy pressure on my bladder AND ribs at the same time. I appreciate every minute of the movement, I just can't say it feels good

  • You are not alone. My little guy keeps punching or pushing some body part and there have been moments where I've yelped in pain. Part of me is glad, because I wasn't feeling him very strongly for a really long time, but the other part of me wants him to chill!

  • I think she just had some kind of mini dance party my entire belly was just spazzing out... but I've never been quiet about how much I actually don't like feeling baby movement, it creeps me out. Sometimes for me it helps to get on all fours on the bed with my booty up in the air a bit... sometimes it just takes the pressure off some things.

  • This LO moves around so much more than DS did! He/she likes to push on my rib cage and the only way I can get any relief from that is to lay down.

One of the guys at work was just totally in awe of my belly moving around the other day and said "I just could not imagine that feeling at all" the woman I work with tried telling him that it was like gas bubbles. I had to quickly correct her and say "Maybe in the beginning, but NO not now! Its like someone using the inside of your body like a punching and kicking bag!"

  • I get either knees or elbows or some limb stretching out and then moving all the way across my stomach. Craziest feeling.
  • Yes! This kid is way more active than my first. There is usually something poking out my right side that is a little painful! Then, there's the rolling around- yikes!

  • The pain in my ribs when she kicks is painful. Nothing seems to help and then even when she moves away from the ribs they are sore.

  • Yes! I was almost in tears last night because he did some kind of kick that seriously hurt my left hip bone area. I wish I could explain it better. It was like a giant pop! Nothing I've ever felt before.
  • Mine punches me in parts I didn't know I had.
  • Yep, I am fairly uncomfortable every time she moves. When she wiggles super low everything in my pelvis and lower back aches. It hurts. Also, the huge dragging motions from her feet/knees also hurt my ab muscles!

  • I am right there with you! As much as I love watching her move and kick and most of her movements do not bother me -- when she rolls over or rolls her butt across my stomach. I literally have to hang on for dear life. I get so sick it takes everything in me to not throw up wherever I am at.  There was one time when some body part came jabbing out of my stomach to the left of my belly button. It felt like it was coming about a foot out and it was so painful. I literally had to push her back down and screamed.

  • My LO does this weird stretch where she likes to stick her butt wayyyy up and out right under my right ribs. When she does it, it takes my breath away and I can hardly move. Laying on my side or leaning back will help until she settles down again.

  • @dearfoam does your Spinning Babies book have any advice for Occiput Posterior Babies?  My guys been head down and Sunny side up since 28ish weeks... He's not budging no mater how much hands and knees time I spend trying to convince him to!  He is against my spine, and it hurts.

Also on topic, My guys is all knees and elbows!  He also likes to put his arm up over his head which feels like I'm getting punched in the vag, because I am...

  • If I even attempt to sit up straight, little man is in my way.  The only way I am comfortable is if I lean back in my chair at work or home.  And he will stretch out in such a way that he hits my ribs and my hips at the same time.  I find myself trying to push him down out of my ribs a lot.

  • Right there with you ladies.  She also likes to push her butt out, which is fun to watch but so very uncomfortable.  Yesterday I swear it felt like she was trying to bust a foot out through my right side. Ouch!!
  • I'm the same. Love those movements, but they can be pretty painful at times. She seems to particularly love to stretch her feet into my ribs. Half the time, I'll have one foot in each rib and she won't budge now matter how much I try to get her to.

  • My little guy has been laying at an angle for most of my pregnancy. His butt is on my right side pushing up against my ribs. If you look at me straight on, I look pretty lopsided. Sometimes he pushes that butt so far into my ribs I can feel em grinding together, so painful. I've had to stand at the side of the bed a few nights and just relax and do some breathing to deal with the pain. At work, i try to stand, or lean back in my chair. He is definitely a mover!!

  • Yep. Mine hurts when he moves. My whole right side feels like it's bruised bc he's always dragging feet or knees against the side, or pushing out or cracking me in the ribs. I usually have to push his whatever back in.
