OK to use several brands of baby bottles?

I've amassed a fair share of random bottles (Avent, Evenflo, Similac, etc) through clearance shopping, gifts, etc. Wondering throughts/experience on using a variety of bottles or if I have to shell out the money so all the bottles are the same? (One of my friends warned me about different nipples on the bottles and that babies can tell the difference between bottle brads?) Thanks for any advice!

    Babies can be pretty picky about what nipples they want to use. Are you breast feeding? If so, I'd be even more careful to avoid confusing baby with too many nipples. I'd try to stick to just YOURS and one other for bottle feeding.

    If you are formula feeding, you still want to avoid confusion, especially early on as they develop the skills they need to feed from a bottle. I think it's nice to have a couple different ones on hand in case your baby decides she doesn't like one kind of nipple, you have another to try.

    I wouldn't just buy a ton, though. Start with one or two, then go from there if you don't find something that works.You can probably return some unopened ones you've received to the store for credit or something, as well.

    I used several brands and my son did just fine... he was however a little messier with some than others.

    We registered for different types of bottles and nipples. That way if people get them great then we don't have to spend the money if she doesn't like that type. Since hearing babies can be so picky we decided not to buy any until after we see what we get at the shower. No sense in wasting a bunch of money on one type of bottle and her refusing it. Plus, I'm going to be breastfeeding and we might have to find that one nipple she likes besides my breast.

    I BF. DS refused any bottle. At about 5-6 months I was able to get him to take a bit of breast milk from a sippy cup. He wouldn't do a whole feeding from it. That was it. I even tried bottles that were the same brand as his pacifier (bc they had the same nipple and he took the pacifier), but he wouldn't take those either. So I wouldn't be shelling out for a tonne of bottles yet.

    Not really something you can know now. The baby will let you know.

    It depends on the nipple more than the bottle. I had several different types if bottles but they all had the same nipples. But you won't know until baby is here.
