    11 minutes to DD... that was quick and nearly a record.  Might actually be the record... gotta got check my post-it note.  

    Congrats on a healthy A/S.  As for gender... I can't tell you your baby's gender since that will take a couple of years before the baby will start to develop their gender identity.  Sorry.

    They were giving you a heads up and it was very well mannered.  Especially since you are probably about 1,000 to ask this question about the looking at a profile U/S to help determine the baby's sex.  We aren't ultrasound techs so it would only be a 50/50 guess for us. 

    Gender:  Be careful sex and gender are not interchangeable since there is a difference (even if your medical professional does still use gender).  This is an important item to several women on the board. If you are unfamiliar about the difference please let us know and we can get you some resources.

    I'm sure no one here intended to make you "feel small," but do take a step back and think about what you asked. It was a rather ridiculous request. Also, if you've spent any time on this board, you'll know that the sex vs gender distinction is very important to many of us.

    I feel like every time someone writes gender we instantly want to jump in to correct them. The two words sex and gender should not be used interchangeably but often people do. Most women don't even know the difference. Honestly I didn't until after I joined D14. I felt like I almost got attacked in a tread when I had asked if maybe my understanding of the two words were wrong. I know the difference now yet women will continue to use the words gender instead of sex. Even here in the app there is a section called "gender reveal ideas" with pictures and descriptions of how to announce the sex if your baby. I try to not accidentally slip the words when I talk about the baby's sex so I'm very carful with what I say around friends or family. I don't want to offend anyone. And that's what we are doing here. We are simply trying to educate a fellow mom to know the difference nothing more. Even though the two words are commonly misused sex and gender have two separate meanings please understand that.

    @missjanine I promise you this was very tame considering some of them in the past. It is suggested that newbies to the board lurk before posting. If you had lurked you would have seen the extreme amount of posts exactly like this. Nobody is trying to make you feel small, it just gets old hearing the same "what is my baby?!" requests when obviously nobody here is qualified to provide that information for you. Plus, your husband would probably be really mad!

     If you really want to know, call your doctor, they have it in your file. I didn't actually get to see the ultrasound picture before the DD, but my husband doesn't want to find out the sex of our child and I am okay with that  While I would like to know and I think it would be easier picking a name and such, I couldn't imagine going behind his back and finding out or attempting to find out after agreeing not to find out the sex.

    @LadyThrice - I noticed that as well.  DH asked if that was the purpose of the siggie.  So nope... you aren't the only one.  Creeps me out a little since while I know that is not what JTT is doing... he was under the age of 18.

    Haha no it doesn't offend me at all! I'm not one of the sensitive crazies!! However if it does offend anyone I will absolutely change it! It's not meant to be nasty or anything, I just chose the credits from that show because that's where I fell in love.
